Re: Pi4 crashes randomly

It seems that my side the latest firefox-esr upgrade ( 60.8.0esr-1~deb10u1+rpi1 ) fixed the crashes issue. It has been 72h without a single crash since I upgraded firefox-esr. It seems the previous versions were not build against the correct target, and this one is built for the pi. While I do under...

Re: A problem with Chromium after last update (bad rendered content)

The page you have linked appears fine in Firefox ESR to me ( lots of rain in poland right now ! ), but totally messed up in Chromium : it is all mixed like a jigsaw puzzle randomly assembled, and the rain layer isn't visible at all. I did notice in firefox-ESR some images on some websites render lik...

Re: Pi4 crashes randomly

I had hopes that updating / upgrading to the latest fixes about acceleration would fix the issue, but it is not the case. The pi 4 4GB keeps crashing badly, even when doing nothing. According to /var/log/messages it rebooted once by itself then crashed last night while I was asleep and obviously not...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 B stopped & died suddenly

From what I could read about all the other Pi ( can't find official info about the pi4 leds ) , if the red power led is not up when you plug the power supply unit cable, it means the pi is not getting any power from the unit. See for example : https://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Red_power_LED_do...

Re: Pi4 crashes randomly

I should also point out that the symptoms are a complete machine freeze. Music playing in the background stops, networking stops and not even the the ALT-SysReq commands work! It's as though the machine just halts with no notifications. The only way to get it back is to power cycle the machine. Thi...

Re: Pi4 goes poof, not sure what the pattern is

So I flashed a fresh raspbian, rebooted on it, and the pi keeps crashing even without any modifications to the system other than apt update / apt upgrade so it begins to smell hardware

Re: Pi4 goes poof, not sure what the pattern is

So in fact it keeps crashing, and it seems it is not related with watching videos in firefox. It just did twice again, without leaving any clues in messages. I suppose I'll flash the sdcard with raspbian fresh again, and revert to the old pc as my daily desktop while I try to figure out what causes ...

Re: Pi4 goes poof, not sure what the pattern is

I *think* I found a culprit I have been watching youtube stuff on chromium without crashing, which led me to think firefox was in cause. I then tried to disable h264ify on firefox, and revert layers.acceleration.force-enabled to is default FALSE. I had enabled both with the hope to lower the load o...

Re: Pi4 goes poof, not sure what the pattern is

I have been able to reproduce the crash, simply by opening the pages that I was browsing before the crashes : one is a news website with an embedded youtube clip, the other is a youtube page about pi4 enclosures :) I have been watching the video in both cases, and a few minutes later the crash happe...

Re: Pi4 goes poof, not sure what the pattern is

It is RASPBERRY PI DESKTOP Yes, it is the default desktop as shipped by raspbian, I just changed file manager for thunar but I doubt it is relevant. I am reluctant to using chromium as it keeps sending my private life to Google and friends... so this is why I was testing Firefox ( it does leak too,...

Pi4 crashes randomly (browser runs out of memory?)

Hello, I am using the pi4 as a desktop replacement, which it does great and silently - that is so cool ! I am experimenting crashes since yesterday, and I have difficulties to determine a pattern, maybe it is about watching videos on youtube. Both yesterday and today, I was watching some short casua...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

cannot find or open vl805_update_0137a8.zip It seems you are not unzipping from the same directory as where you downloaded the file. Can you check where the zip file landed when you downloaded it, and use cd to change your current directory to the correct emplacement before unzipping ? Other than t...

Any plans on a pi4 version of this enclosure ? I like that it also cools the usb and that it has a button.

Please note my concern that it is described as a Pi4 case, but the picture appears to have a Pi3 in it!
Indeed the usb and ethernet are the other way around

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

I switched my old power hungry and noisy pc for a pi4 , and am doing my daily desktop activity with it : casual internet browsing, gimp editing , and a bit of compilation for stuff that I don't find distributed as packages. After 3 days I can summarize things like that : The pi4 sits on my desk tabl...

Re: Wake from halt

Hello, I am trying to wake a raspberry pi 4 after either "shutdown now" "shutdown -h now" or "halt" by grounding gpio 3 as described in the OP ( shorting 5 and 6 ), but it appears not to do anything here. Did this change in the pi4 ? Is there any way to activate it, or a workaround with another meth...
