Re: Raspbian 64-bit version (Performances)

Well I'm not sure if the 64 bit kernel is where you should be if you want stable performance when browsing Youtube and such. I would probably try with 32-bit kernel and the stock updates. If you are willing to go further and risk breaking your system, rpi-update a commit you are comfortable with, I ...

Re: Raspbian 64-bit version (Performances)

Did you perform a full system upgrade after first boot? I have a 4B that performs much better now compared to what it was at launch. There have been many updates to both hardware and software like chromium-ui-mods that have helped a great deal with youtube and browsing in general.

Code: Select all

git apply --ignore-space-change --ignore-whitespace uhubctl.patch
adding --ignore-space-change --ignore-whitespace works for applying the patch.

Re: Jetson Nano or RPI4

Well you are on the Raspberry Pi forum, so you know what answer you're going to get. As someone that has used this little computer for 6 months, I can recommend it as a 'must have' if you say you work with SBCs. The frequent updates and the Pi Foundation people directly working with people here to r...

Re: DVFS Firmware

I'm running with this now and it appears to be fine, haven't run any tests yet though. I guess the gpu_freq part is redundant in the config, but adding core_freq=500 makes it boot with gpu_freq config uncommented, whereas it was not booting without core_freq, as mentioned in that github comment link...

Re: DVFS Firmware

I was also having issues with the Pi not booting with gpu_freq=600 with the DVFS firmware, I removed it and now it runs like a charm, had to up the voltage by 1 point but the temps have fallen considerably during medium loads, like a mix of writing forum posts and watching youtube, by as much as 6-7...

Re: rpi-eeprom beta package - VL805 updates

I would like to report that my raspberry pi 4B that I got a few days after release has been performing extremely well, and I decided to overclock it to 1925/600 @ +4, also downloaded the eeprom package here and it has become quite the little powerhouse. The performance appears smoother and faster th...

Re: Am I the only one that still would buy a Raspberry Pi 3b+?

Silly connection adapters? I use a micro-HDMI to HDMI and a USB-C power supply, no adapters were needed. If RPI 4B and 3B+ are both available at the same price point, it would be foolish to get the 3B+ since the 4B is much better value. If it is not available, I'd probably wait until I can get my ha...

Just cut the extra exposed wiring that is close to PP5, or put some tapes over it, either ways I don't necessarily think you would need to redo it.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 as a primary desktop computer?

It can be used as a desktop computer. I'm really happy with the recent updates of eeprom, firmware, rpi-ui, rpi-chromium-mods and other packages that have greatly improved web browsing on my Pi 4B 4GB ram. Ultimately it depends on what you are looking to do with your desktop computer, but for most o...

i have those Chinese power supplies rated at 12v @ 10A, I only use it when its really really really needed because they are not very safe. imagine some metal falling into those holes and shorting the mains with the metal case, then someone touches it. no thanks.

Re: RP4 USB Battery Power - E Marked Issue

the whole power issue is overblown. raspberry pi 4B runs absolutely fine even if your cheapo chinese powerbank can deliver 2.4 - 3A @ 5V, which many of them are capable of doing, considering the fast charging applications for smartphones these days, my Mi 20Ah can deliver upto 2.4A @ 5V and I've nev...

I've measured upto 45000rpm using a simple microphone and audacity. You record, then measure the time between the peaks of the wave, 60/(end time - start time) = rpm.

I'd say its more efficient than the older versions considering the power usage hasn't really gone up that much while the BCM2835 SoC outperforms all of them when it comes to raw processing power. I haven't done the math so don't quote me on that. :D
