Re: rpi-eeprom beta package - VL805 updates

I would like to report that my raspberry pi 4B that I got a few days after release has been performing extremely well, and I decided to overclock it to 1925/600 @ +4, also downloaded the eeprom package here and it has become quite the little powerhouse. The performance appears smoother and faster th...

Re: Am I the only one that still would buy a Raspberry Pi 3b+?

Silly connection adapters? I use a micro-HDMI to HDMI and a USB-C power supply, no adapters were needed. If RPI 4B and 3B+ are both available at the same price point, it would be foolish to get the 3B+ since the 4B is much better value. If it is not available, I'd probably wait until I can get my ha...

Just cut the extra exposed wiring that is close to PP5, or put some tapes over it, either ways I don't necessarily think you would need to redo it.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 as a primary desktop computer?

It can be used as a desktop computer. I'm really happy with the recent updates of eeprom, firmware, rpi-ui, rpi-chromium-mods and other packages that have greatly improved web browsing on my Pi 4B 4GB ram. Ultimately it depends on what you are looking to do with your desktop computer, but for most o...

that is not a 900Ah battery, a 900Ah would be the size of a CPU cabinet and weigh 50kgs.

Re: Low voltage warning even though gpio being powered with 5.07V?

i have those Chinese power supplies rated at 12v @ 10A, I only use it when its really really really needed because they are not very safe. imagine some metal falling into those holes and shorting the mains with the metal case, then someone touches it. no thanks.

Re: RP4 USB Battery Power - E Marked Issue

the whole power issue is overblown. raspberry pi 4B runs absolutely fine even if your cheapo chinese powerbank can deliver 2.4 - 3A @ 5V, which many of them are capable of doing, considering the fast charging applications for smartphones these days, my Mi 20Ah can deliver upto 2.4A @ 5V and I've nev...

reverse engineer the raspberry pi and make a competitor to it that is better than RPI and make a kickstarter, although I would wager it might be beyond your scope

I've measured upto 45000rpm using a simple microphone and audacity. You record, then measure the time between the peaks of the wave, 60/(end time - start time) = rpm.

We see it so often. People expect so much, for free, from a band of volunteers on a forum and those working hard to create Free and Open Source software. When they don't get what they demand they stamp their feet go off in a huff. In this case proclaiming that everything here is "completely pointle...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4's energy-efficiency

I'd say its more efficient than the older versions considering the power usage hasn't really gone up that much while the BCM2835 SoC outperforms all of them when it comes to raw processing power. I haven't done the math so don't quote me on that. :D

Depends on what you are using it for, hone If you are just using it to do some processing in the background then you know it doesn't need stly. If you want to use it as a desktop "replacement" then a SSD will greatly improve your experience.

What is so special about BTRFS? I used it once, it was always stuttering and slower than ext. Obviously I haven't looked into the full feature set but this looks more like a vocal minority asking for it when most other people would rather have things like a stable 64bit kernel for Raspberry. :D

I have a 4GB board and I've never seen it consume more than about 1.5 GB even with many Chromium tabs open. I think that will change if we get a stable 64 bit kernel, hopefully.

I created a .desktop file for my script and moved to ~/.config/autostart, here's an example, the Exec part is the most relevant, others are not.

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=LXInput autostart
Comment=wat
NoDisplay=true
Exec=sh -c 'python3 ~/Desktop/subby.py'

Try disconnecting whatever else you have on the other USB 3 rail. My ssd would disconnect whenever I had something else on the USB 3.0 rail that was drawing a lot of power.
