Well, it is not completely true that it is completely impossible to play Flash on the Raspberry Pi. In fact it works using gnash. See my blog post for details:

Problem is just that it is so slow (at the moment) that it is mostly unusable.

You can play Flash in the browser (iceweasel) on a raspberry pi using Gnash. I successfully did. It's just painfully slow. I got Flash working on my Raspberry Pi (Debian Squeeze). :D :P Well, not Flash exactly, but Gnash does the job of playing SWF as well.
