Re: Problem with Certbot or Python on Raspbian

Dougie, I don't think that the Raspbian install procedure uses that script. Allowing an install script to get the latest version of any package just isn't the Debian way. The level installed on Buster is 0.31.0-1 whereas the latest Certbot version seems to be 1.3.0. Just to be sure I tried a Raspbia...

Re: Disable Directory Browsing in Apache2

You need to specify "Options -Indexes" for the directory that is the document root serving your website. The Debian convention is to provide a virtual host file for each site, and place it in /etc/apache2/sites-available/xxx.conf where xxx is a meaningful name, perhaps the domain name for your site....

Re: OCR scanning image with Raspberry

Try Tesseract. I tried it to read low resolution scans of a paper form, looking for a particular 13 digit number. It was accurate about 50% of the time. If you can accept single digit errors then that bumped up the success rate to just below 80%. Never got a chance to try it with higher resolution s...

Re: Error getting updates

The message shows the use of an IPv6 address. I used to have problems with apt and apt-get when they tried to use IPv6 addresses. You can force them to use only IPv4 addresses by creating a file called, for example, /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/42-force-ipv4 with the following content: Acquire::ForceIPv4 "tr...

Re: RP4 Use USB 3.0 to USB C for OTG / Serial / SSH connection & access

An alternative suggestion. Given that your objective is to connect to the Pi over VNC and that you already have a working SSH connection, then I think the easiest way to achieve this is to tunnel VNC traffic over SSH. This requires a little bit of one time set-up in PuTTY and VNC, then to use you wo...

Re: Setting up a Nginx server using xxx.asuscomm.com

Sorry, I know nothing about nginx set-up, so feel free to ignore if the following is not helpful! If I understand correctly, from the Internet you can reach http://abc.xyz but not https://abc.xyz So http traffic is being accepted but not https. I would guess that this is because either you have a fi...

See if you can establish an ssh session between the machines. If so, you can tunnel RealVNC over the ssh connection.

Are you running a firewall on the client that cannot connect to Wordpress? If so, disable it and try again. For ufw the command is sudo ufw disable If that doesn’t fix it please report what you type on the browser on the Pi running Wordpress to display the site, and also what you type on the browser...

Re: Raspberry Pi and Fotek SSR-25

The Fotek should be either off or on, with no in-between state, but it sounds like yours is not. I wonder if you have a genuine part, because there are an awful lot of fake Fotek devices on the market. I bought 2 SSR-40DA devices on eBay and they work fine with standard GPIO pin 17 (in my case). But...

Re: Buster / Apache2 missing package - libapache2-mod-fcgi(d)

I have been running WordPress (now at 5.2.3 thanks to auto-updating) on Buster for over a month without installing this module. The block editor and auto-updates both run fine. I don't know about the REST API as I block this. Perhaps a silly question, but did you try to install libapache2-mod-fastcg...

The first problem to address is your site not working when you access it as local host from your Pi. Run these commands on your Pi. First, is Apache running? sudo systemctl status apache2 If not, try restarting it sudo systemctl start apache2 If this fails report the results of sudo journal to -xe

Re: install Mysql-Server and client, php5, apache

What you will get is the version of the package available in the version of Raspbian you have installed. For Buster this is PHP 7.3 as stated in my original response. This is the latest version of PHP, but probably not the latest sub-release eg 7.3.x where x differs between latest and that installed...
