Pre-building Buster on RPi 3 for coming RPi 4

Hi, I have an app that runs on the Pi 3B+. I'm excited to run it on the new Pi 4 (I have some units on order that should arrive in a few weeks). I understand that I'm going to have to rebuild the environment on Buster. If I install Buster on a 3B+ and get everything reinstalled, configured and runni...

Re: Run Stretch wifi GUI from command line

I would be open to starting the desktop if there was a way to directly drop the user in into the Wi-Fi GUI. Right now I have a little "control panel" where the user can change settings. I have no easy way for them to change Wi-Fi. I'd like something I could directly "link" to for them to make change...

Run Stretch wifi GUI from command line

Hello! The Stretch Wi-Fi GUI seems like the easiest and most comprehensive way to control Wi-Fi connections. Is there any possible way to call the GUI directly as a standalone program (preferably from the command line)? I've written an app that runs from the console/terminal window and I'd like to g...

Re: Stuttering video at 720p. Works great in window at 1080p - Perl + SDL

Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions. I didn't find an answer, but I think I found a solution. I spent a considerable amount of time using 'top' and 'vmstat' to watch memory and cpu usage. I made changes to ensure the Pi wasn't having to swap or use excessive CPU or anything else that I could...

Re: Stuttering video at 720p. Works great in window at 1080p - Perl + SDL

As a follow-up, I've had a small amount of success by reducing the amount of memory my program uses. I now rotate image frames in and out of memory as they are needed (instead of storing everything in ram the entire time). I've also added some micro sleep (Time:HiRes -> usleep) in the loops that cre...

Stuttering video at 720p. Works great in window at 1080p - Perl + SDL

Hi Guys, I'm feeling really frustrated and panicked... I've been writing a multimedia program (for free) for a friend's business. The program is written in Perl and uses SDL running on a RPi 3 B+. The program does lots of video (video frames are separate images that I read into variables and then di...

WiringPi + Perl - button inputs randomly stop working

Hi, I've written a Perl program that uses SDL to display graphics and sound based on a couple of LED button inputs. Everything works fine most of the time, but twice I've had a situation where the RPi acts as if the buttons are not connected (or at least it doesn't take input from them). This seems ...

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll explore some of these a bit and see what I can come up with.

Thanks!

Simple GUI config - wifi, IP, timezone

Hi, I've written a small application I would like to distribute on an RPi. I'd like to find some type of very simple GUI program that would run the first time the RPi is plugged in at the end user's location. This simple GUI would allow the user to set the wifi SSID/password, timezone and a non-rout...
