Re: Direct sunlight versus camera board

I experienced CCD permanent marks on camera V1.3 with direct sunlight. I had it with a time-lapse as well ( https://hackaday.io/project/6402-photographic-time-journey ) On the path of the sun, the colors are a bit washed out, it seems it is not the silicon that is damage but more the RGB bayer filte...

Re: Advice for a large buffer of Y images from the camera

Hi, I more or less managed to have the behavior I'd like. The following code is really messy, I'm now on cleaning that a bit. https://github.com/pierre-muth/selfpi/blob/master/raspividyuv/RaspiVidYUV.c For the delay, I use a png image which each pixel intensity represents the delay in frames (0-255)...

Re: Advice for a large buffer of Y images from the camera

Hi, Thanks again 6by9 for your precious advice. With raspiviyuv.c, render.c and your help I manage to have a first working code. It is far from being publishable, there still a lot of cleanup, addition to do, and some process are maybe the right way to do it. Parameters so far: image 400x400, RGB, b...

Re: Advice for a large buffer of Y images from the camera

576 buffers is going to be a problem - even at VGA that's 265MB, so you'd have to be setting gpu_mem to >300MB to be able to run, and you get mirrored buffers in GPU and ARM memory. There is also a 512 buffer limit. https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland/blob/master/interface/mmal/vc/mmal_vc_shm.c...

Re: Advice for a large buffer of Y images from the camera

Thanks for your answer 6by9! I made a fist quick attempt some time ago by putting 576 in the existing buffer pool /* Create pool of buffer headers for the output port to consume */ pool = mmal_port_pool_create(video_port, video_port->buffer_num, video_port->buffer_size); I will search why I got the ...

Advice for a large buffer of Y images from the camera

Hi, I'll try to summarize what I'd like to achieve: A continuous live effect where each displayed line have a delay equal to its position. That means the first line of the image has no delay, the second line has one frame delay, the 500th line has 500 frames delay. I tried to illustrate that with th...

Hi!
I had exactly the same freezing issue with the Rpi display and camera together. And it is fixed now thanks to the new firmware got with rpi-update.

Thanks a lot for the work !

Re: RaspYUV auto exposure (-ex night) extended

Understood, you're right the fps stay in one of the mode.
I'll probably stay with 0.1666-1fps, even if it is slower to adapt.
Yes, I disabled the red led (in fact I removed it). I figured it out before and I though it was why AGC not use long exposure.

Re: RaspYUV auto exposure (-ex night) extended

Hello again. I think I pointed something. To be sure of using maximum possibilities I used : MMAL_PARAMETER_FPS_RANGE_T fps_range = {{MMAL_PARAMETER_FPS_RANGE, sizeof(fps_range)},{1, 6}, {6, 1}}; mmal_port_parameter_set(preview_port, &fps_range.hdr); ... mmal_port_parameter_set(still_port, &fps_rang...

Thank you very much for these explanations! I'm really happy to have such fast and precise support. You are right, I see now it is pushing beyond normal uses of the software. I'll continue to play a bit with the FPS parameters and let you know if I get more stable results. Thanks again and have a ni...

Hi again, I manage to build the sources and make changes in RaspiStill.c I forced preview_port and still_port with MMAL_PARAMETER_FPS_RANGE_T fps_range = {{MMAL_PARAMETER_FPS_RANGE, sizeof(fps_range)},{167,1000 }, {999,1000}}; mmal_port_parameter_set(preview_port, &fps_range.hdr) ... mmal_port_param...

Re: RaspYUV auto exposure (-ex night) extended

Thank you very much for your fast reply ! It is a good news yet if the night exposure mode could be up to 10s. In RaspiStill.c, do you talk about these lines, in the function : create_camera_component(RASPISTILLYUV_STATE *state) if(state->camera_parameters.shutter_speed > 6000000) { MMAL_PARAMETER_F...

RaspYUV auto exposure (-ex night) extended

Hello! Is it possible to let the auto exposure, with the option -night, to go a bit further in shutter speed and iso ? For night sky, it go until a bit less than 1 second exposition and 400 iso. Manually, the results are nicer with 800 iso and more than 1 second exposition. To be precise, what I'm l...

Re: MMAL encodings or effects

Wow, that was a short delay answer, thank you very much ! You're perfectly right, Luma channel is exactly the monochrome component. I asked in case we can make economy of some streamed bytes. That is now pretty clear for the effects, I ignored it is closed source. tl;dr : What I'm trying to achieved...

MMAL encodings or effects

Hello, I'm digging a bit the codes involved with the camera module. I'd like to get a monochrome video stream and made some trial by modifying raspivid. It is possible to get the raw YUV, even RGB. But for optimization, I wondering if it is possible get directly only one byte per pixel with camera p...

Hello, I think I need your help to find why my load average jump by 1.00 after a random amount of time. I'm on the last Raspbian, and use a Java program to log sensors values. I also log the memory usage and load average of the system. Some time, this load average value jump by 1.00, from let's say ...

Hi I'm writing a Java application to log and display data from various sensors. The idea is close to a weather station. Sorry for the duplicate topic, I think I had put in the wrong forum. I made an interface to connect a custom screen via the HDMI. The screen resolution is 320x240. The minimum resolution of HDMI is 640x480. Then in config.txt I put hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=4 framebuffer_width = 320 framebuffer_height ...
