Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

I simply can't hear any problems with sounds on any of my Pi's. I don't know what to suggest next.Maybe record the sounds on your phone and post the sound file (you'd have to at least zip it to be able to upload it here) somewher. Maybe if I hear it I will recognise some symptom? Here is the sound ...

Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

I've been trying out some sounds on one of my Pis to see if I can replicate your problem; and the answer is no, I can't. Even with reverb on, the only sound that is really noticeably affected is the cat meow. Pretty much any other noise is ok. Turning reverb off makes little difference except to th...

Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

Today I played the sound "DrumSet1.mp3" in LXMusic and it finished properly, with no echo at the end. Then played it in Scratch and it has a quite noticeable short echo at the end. I could not test with the default "Meow" sound (in Scratch, the echo on this makes it sound awful), because LXMusic and...

Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

Sorry for the delayed reply - well, that's annoying. I hoped the issue would be nice and simple to fix :-) Please tell us about exactly which sonds you are having problems with and exactly how you are listening to them. Via hdmi to speakers on a monitor? Headphones plugged into the lineout jack? So...

Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

Try using sudo cp {theimage} /usr/share/scratch - that should get around the permissions issue. Used this and the image is now copied to the correct folder. Opened Scratch from the menu and the latest version opened correctly. There is now sound but still with the same problem as before. Tried maki...

Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

Here's an experimental new version for you to try out; unzip it and move it to /usr/share/scratch. http://www.rowledge.org/tim/squeak/files/NuScratch20190520.image.zip The /usr/bin/scratch shell script (which handles the menu item for Scratch on the desktop) should pick it up as the newest image fi...

Ok, I’ll see about writing it up for you. Though I find myself thinking that maybe I should just make a new release anyway and include a configuration option for this. We have a new slightly faster VM that would be nice to put out anyway.
Thanks very much. Hope it is possible to fix.

Re: Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

There has long been a problem with balancing sounds in Scratch on the Pi; it seems to work ok on other platforms. The issue normally appears to revolve around the 'reverb' mixing setting within the Scratch system. Having reverb turned on can make for some annoying sounds - but only in some cases, j...

Scratch 1.4 sound problem.

I am having a horrible problem with my Pi B whereby any audio file played in Scratch 1.4 has a long echo after it.This applies to any of the sounds included with Scratch and the effect is worse with shorter sounds ( the "pop" sound is like it has been played 3 times, quickly, but slightly quieter ea...

Re: Raspberry Pi B Raspbian OS not logging in - loop of login screen

You can try getting to a command line login by holding down Ctrl and Alt and pressing F2. That should give you a black screen with a login prompt. Login as normal and you should get the basic command line prompt where you can (hopefully) free up some space. Things you can do to try and clear some s...

Re: Raspberry Pi B Raspbian OS not logging in - loop of login screen

I have a 16GB SD card I was originally planning to copy the current 8GB card to using the "SD Card copier" in the Raspbian menu to give extra storage space but guess I left this too late? I have an old PC with Peppermint linux and a few with Windows. Is there any way to copy the current OS from the...

Re: Raspberry Pi B Raspbian OS not logging in - loop of login screen

If you can't regain control over your Operating System, but want to rescue files that you haven't backed up elsewhere, you will need another Linux workstation with a microSD card reader, either built-in or using a usb 'dongle'. That Linux workstation (if you don't have one to hand) could be created...

Re: Raspberry Pi B Raspbian OS not logging in - loop of login screen

This might be a symptom of having no free space left on the root filesystem of your Operating System. The df -h command might reveal this, there should be no entries at or very near to 100%. (Of course, that requires you to temporarily gain access to a shell (command line) prompt... ) Yes, having t...

Re: Raspberry Pi B Raspbian OS not logging in - loop of login screen

moved to other operating systems. What is this "Arabian OS", and how does it differ from the normal Raspbian, and why do you suppose it uses the same user name and password as Raspbian? Did you try entering the password in the user name field, to see if it came out as expected ? if the keyboard lan...

Raspberry Pi B Raspbian OS not logging in - loop of login screen

Recently my Raspberry Pi B (Raspbian OS - recommended full version installed from NOOBS) is not booting to the desktop (default "pi" user, auto login) as it used to. Now it boots to a login box where the user "pi" is selected in the username field. The default password for Raspbian is "raspberry", a...
