Hi All,

I am looking for the environmental specifications for the Pi 2 Model B+. I need things like:

Simple way to receive a text message across the network

I have seen simple chat examples on the web using 2 Pis and the network.py library. I cannot seem to get working an example of the Pi listening on the default port of 8888 as coded in network.py and a VB.net application sending a text string via a Stream Writer to the IP address and port of the Pi. ...

Control USB port Enable / Disable

All, I am wondering if I can enable / disable the USB ports programmatically using Python, or a script I can call from Python on the Pi? I have a DSLR camera attached via USB. Typically when the camera sees it is attached via USB it goes into "PC" mode. I want to be able to enabled the USB - then co...

Re: OV5647 Discontinued

It would be cool to go for a camera module that supported a Xenon type flash or could sync to a Nikon or Canon external flash.

Dave,

That is great news! Can't wait for the next release. With the flash enabled I can do so many more things with this wonderful solution.

Raspberry Pi 2 and Wake On LAN

I rob ably already know the answer to this but I have not found and definitive answer concerning the Pi 2. So - does the new Raspberry Pi 2 support Wake On LAn. If not, is there a hack that can be done to get this all important feature working? As powerful as the RPI is I cannot believe it does not ...

Re: Camera Flash idea ??

That was a very good explanation on the read out times and the time for the total chip. I understand completely so will not waste my time on the thread idea.

I'll just use a GPIO port, turn the LED light on, capture, turn it off.

Thanks,

Don

Re: Camera Flash idea ??

Interesting and thanks for the reply. I was surprised to see 66ms for an exposure. Is that with me setting the shutter speed to 1/1000? How can that be since a shutter of 1/1000 would equal 1ms exposure. Just trying to understand. I am going to mock up a strobe and the aforementioned thread to do so...

Clone or backup FULL SD Card

All, I have 2 Model B+ Pis - I have been trying to clone the SD card from Pi 1 so I can get my second Pi up and running exactly as my first one. I used Win32DiskImager as suggested on several Pi forums. I imaged my Pi # 1 SD card, then laid that image onto Card #2. But when I booted Pi # 2 it had er...

Camera Flash idea ??

I have a thought on controlling a regular flash, something like a Quantum Trio and use it with the Pi camera. Assuming that I have a flash with a pulse duration of 1 millisecond and a shutter speed on the Picam of something < 1ms, which by the way is a fairly slow exposure I am thinking I could: Cre...

Re: Beginner, Wirelessly Connect Camera to Pi?

Hi, I am new to the Raspberry Pi and the camera module myself but have done a bit of reading over the last week. The camera uses a dedicated high speed CSI interface to connect to the Pi. As such, there would be no way to take the camera itself and make it wireless since it needs the GPU on the Pi t...

Re: Camera flash driver released

Well I am very new here and new to Raspberry Pi and the camera. I do have this wonderful camera working and have been experimenting with it. I currently output a GPIO to an optocoupler that is driving some bright LEDs, capture an image and then turn the GPIO off. This is working but as I read throug...

Re: Adapt RPi camera to round cable (not flat flex) ?

Does anyone have the part numbers for the 15 pin FFC and HDMI connectors that were used in this example? (Mouser / Digi-Key).

I am investigating doing this for a potential project but cannot seem to be able to find them in the catalogs

Thanks

Don
