Video: Time Integration

I am taking a video of blinking lights (with very accurate blinking frequencies). It seems as though my camera (Camera Module v2) is integrating in time, i.e. though it is recording at 90 fps, the frames (taken at every ~11 ms) seem to be an average in time of the image between the current and previ...

Re: Camera v2: Accurate High-Speed Frame Rate Output

@ HermannSW, does the delta correspond to the difference between the timestamp and the oscillator time on the camera? I am less worried about the resolution (microsecond) of the timestamp and more so interested in how closely it aligns with the camera time.

Re: Camera v2: Accurate High-Speed Frame Rate Output

Ok, I thought you could read this information from the SPS heading. My apologies if I was mistaken!

Does the latency affect the timestamps for each frame? I am more concerned with the validity of the timestamps rather than which frames are actually dropped/missing.

Re: Camera v2: Accurate High-Speed Frame Rate Output

@ 6by9, thank you for your reply! Do you know if raspivid has the capability of printing out accurate timestamps for each frame in a video using the SPS headings? I am thinking of triggering the recording with a push button connected to the GPIO pins. Do you think this may alleviate issues with late...

Re: Camera v2: Accurate High-Speed Frame Rate Output

Thank you, 6by9! We have two follow-up questions: 1. How do we write the object output to a file? The sample command in the link you sent doesn't include this information. 2. In our current code (included herein below), is the camera.frame.index command the correct one to print out the number of rec...

Camera v2: Accurate High-Speed Frame Rate Output

I am working with the Raspberry Pi Camera Module v2. I am trying to collect videos at 90 fps (640 x 480 pixels) and, despite spending weeks searching through FAQs and help sections, I continue to encounter issues with trigger delays. Due to CPU delays, the clock time on the computer doesn't correspo...
