Re: Selling Arcade Cabinets With RetroPie

From what I have read on other threads, you can do what you like with the Pi after you purchase it. If I were to do it, I would build the cabinets, hook up the Pi, and include an instruction sheet on how to finish setting it up and get/install RetroPi, including the link to their site so they can ge...

Re: Raspberry Pi Zero W not connecting to wifi

You could try the underscore _ instead of a space. Why? When the problem is the unicode quotes rather than plain ASCII quotes. The SSID still needs to be in quote marks. I was unaware that there are different type of quotes available, as there is only 1 key for them on any keyboard I have ever used...

Re: Making Yoghurts With A Raspberry Pi

As someone else mentioned, you could look at the brewing world. Home brewers use a device to control the temps for brewing and serving. Many make Kegerators, which consist of an old chest freezer and a temperature control unit. Hook the unit to the wall socket, plug the freezer into the control unit...

Re: Knowing weather a gate is open or closed

So here is the program I am thinking of using. I have modified a couple things from the original, like what the email subject and body is and the sleep time. import smtplib import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time #Email Variables SMTP_SERVER = 'smtp.gmail.com' #Email Server (don't change!) SMTP_PORT = 5...

You should be able to find a cable that has female connectors on both ends
Then you just use it between the adapter and your speakers..

Re: Overclocking RetroPie vs Raspberry Pi OS

Thanks jahboater ,

I just wanted to make sure the change was by OS and not something that was permanently changed on the board itself.
Don't really do anything in RPIOS yet that needs the overclock.

Thanks again.

Overclocking RetroPie vs Raspberry Pi OS

Hi All, I've never done any kind of overclocking before, but might try. On my RPI 3b+ using Raspberry PI OS, I haven't had a need to, but some of the games on my RetroPie build get a bit laggy. Both RetroPie and RPIOS are up to date. If I overclock while using RetroPie, does it stay in place when I ...

Re: Antenna connector for the next Pi!?

I agree it may be something else. I have a PI0W in my garage running MotionEyeOS and it stays connected just fine. The signal is going through about 3 walls, then about 150 feet away, outside, then through another wall. On the other hand, in my small apartment if I put a Pi outside on my balcony, a...

Re: Knowing weather a gate is open or closed

OK, just a little update. I have the sensor, and the actuating magnet for it, just need to test to see how big a gap it can "cross". Found a couple of examples of Python programs that will send an email on a button press, which my sensor will act like, basically the sensor is either open o...

Re: Knowing weather a gate is open or closed

Our sensors aren't anything that "drastic". The ones I'm considering are basically a couple of NO or NC reed switches epoxied into a small housing that are actuated by an external magnet. In a safety system these run to a relay which controls all the rest of the safety measures, alarms, co...

Re: Knowing weather a gate is open or closed

Not using “switches” per say. My company make sensors for safety systems, many that are used in the food industry, that are waterproof. The sensors have reed switches in them that are actuated by a corresponding magnet. When the gate is closed, the magnet and sensor will be by each other, closing th...

Re: Knowing weather a gate is open or closed

That’s kind of my plan, the sensor anyhow. We have a lot of sensors that are reed switches. Just need to get the correct actuator (magnet) to “cross” the gap. As for your suggestion of the app, unfortunately we both have iPhones. Not my choice for my phone, but it’s a company phone so I have to go w...

Did you make a wpa-supplicant file before loading the SD care to your Pi? something like this: ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev update_config=1 country=<Insert 2 letter ISO 3166-1 country code here> network={ ssid="<Name of your wireless LAN>" psk="<Password for...

Re: Advice on using an USB webcam on an RPi3?

If you aren't doing anything else with the Pi you could just create a new SD card with MotionEyeOS on it, or have the "techs" at the equipment location do it. Fairly easy program to work with and you can access online after opening up a port. I use it as a second cam at my house, in additi...

Re: "Reboot required" notification needed

i am fairly new to Linux, only been messing around with my Pis for about a year now. I remember watching tutorials early on, even before I got my first Pi, where everyone did a reboot after every update/upgrade, so I pretty much do it every time as well. Is this overkill? Possibly, but at least I wo...

My first computer was Texas Instruments Ti99/4a. If I remember correctly, my Dad got it when they first came out in '81, which would have made me 10 at the time. I remember doing BASIC with it and using a cassette recorder to load/save the programs. We had a few games, and then got the voice simulat...

Hi All, I'm guessing this is another 5.4 "break". Last night I did a sudo apt update / sudo apt full-upgrade on my RPI 3B+ running the current version of the Raspberry Pi OS. After reboot, it does not show the 4 raspberries at the top of the screen before bringing up the desktop. Everythin...

Hi, I've just been around in circles for the last few hours trying to sort this. I have 4 Raspberry Pis (...yes I know!) and an iMac. I use VNC to log into them from the iMac. I wanted to be able to easily move data from one Pi to another so put a USB memory stick into my Netgear router which suppo...
