Re: Running two applications on startup

put the whole command in a terminal & see what the error is. There is no error. Only a terminal window opens with "pd -alsamidi -mididev 1 Drumkit.pd" and the whole command as the title. I also experimented with previously given methods. I found that typing this in the terminal lxterminal -e /usr/b...

Re: Running two applications on startup

Hello again!
Really sad to say that this method also didn't work. Adding apostrophes to the ends of the command just opens a terminal window with a title that is same as the command.

Re: Running two applications on startup

Hello!
I tried both the methods that you provided. Neither of them seem to work. Where am I going wrong???
Only pd starts and the device doesn't get connected.
Thank you

Re: Running two applications on startup

Thank you for providing the instructions. I tried kerry_s's method by creating the desktop file and the startup file. But again, only pd starts up with the configs and the DrumKit.pd file. The midi device does not get connected. Each line is run independently at nearly the same time in a parallel fa...

Running two applications on startup

Hello! I am using the pi to try and make a drum kit. I am very new to this so please forgive me for stupid questions. I want to start puredata at bootup, which I did by finding the autostart file in LXDE folder and adding this line- @lxterminal -e /usr/bin/pd -alsamidi -mididev 1 DrumKit.pd This wor...

Update:
I even soldered the wires directly to the pi. Still the same problem. '3c' appears and disappears randomly. The modile still works with an arduino uno. What does this suggest????

I2c problem...

Hello!!! I have an ssd1306 monochrome oled which uses the i2c bus to communicate with the raspi. A few days ago, it worked fine. Today, when I hooked it up, I ran some examples provided in the Adafruit library, and the error said that the i2c address coudn't be found. I then checked the i2c bus usin...

Oled interactive menu in python

Hello! I am trying to make a drum kit. I have an SD1306 oled module which used to display stuff with an arduino. Now I want to implement that with the raspberry pi. I want to create a menu which can be interacted with via buttons and/or a rotary encoder. There were two libraries that I could find on...

Can I use this display with the Raspi?

Hello! I just scavenged a 3.2 inch tft lcd display from a cheap chinese e-dictionary, E-ed Besta DA-707. Upon further inspection, I found out that the display has 40 pins, going to a display board, which converts the 40 pins into 34. (I don't see any ICs or anything on the board). The display is RGB...

Getting values from python to puredata to play sounds

Hello! I am trying to make a drum kit with some piezoelectric sensors and the raspberry pi 3. I used python and the pygame library to play back sounds. It was fine for the most part but I decided to use PureData mainly because of latency issues and programming efforts (Graphical programming on pure ...

Using RPi gpio inputs to make sounds in a midi software

Hello! I have made a simple circuit with some peizoelectric sensors (8 of them) to make a drum kit setup. I got 8 input wires and used python3 to play individual sounds from each of the inputs. This approach was only fine as I had some latency and overlapping-audio (even though I used different chan...

How to sense multiple inputs simultaneously?

Hello! I am making a drum kit and I want to sense multiple inputs simultaneously. (Like a real Drum Kit!) I have different channels set up in Pygame for each input and so there isn't any flaw with that. I want to find a way to sense multiple inputs at the same time. Here is a snippet of the code----...

Getting unexpected error while using oled...

I am having some veeeery basic but frustrating errors while displaying text on an Oled screen. count = 1 disp.clear() disp.display() draw.text((30, top+20), count, font=font, fill=255) #there is more code to control the oled, but this is where I am getting the error. The oled cannot display count. I...

Re: Changing values in a defined sequence

Thank you... I understand most of your code, but the part where the sounds are being changed are not clear... After print (count), You mean I need to something like... If count == 1: Drum1 = the path to my sound file? Also, Will I be able to change the NUMBER of patches by editing these lines? if GP...

Re: Changing values in a defined sequence

Hello & sorry for the late reply... I looked at your code and I think it's fantastic... Just a few clarifications... According to your code, it keeps on adding 1 to "count" this would be correct for three times when there are only three sounds, until it goes up to 4, and gives an error about that so...

How to change any value in python with an input

Hello...
Can anyone help me with this?
I want to change (or replace) specific values and strings using a button input from the raspberry pi's GPIO pins. How can I get the desired results in python? Is it simple code? Or a library? I am confused.
Thank you!
