Re: Retired old android smartphone's (HELP PLEASE)
Most modern electronics things aren't worth the effort of scavenging parts from, and I'm a die-hard component recycler. One thing this old stuff is useful for, for a beginner, is soldering/desoldering practice . Old PC cases are great for wires, with pin header connectors on one and often switches ...

automated tuning of linux audio
https://hackaday.com/2019/04/10/automated-tuning-of-linux-audio/ There are two relevant Github repositories for this, the first containing audio adjustments for Debian-based systems, including the Raspberry Pi. This should work on any single board computer running Debian, and has been tested on all...

GIVE YOUR RASPBERRY PI SD CARD A BREAK: LOG TO RAM
got this in my rss feed thought id pass it on for discussion: The fragility of SD cards is the weak link in the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. Most of us seem to have at least one Pi tucked away somewhere, running a Magic Mirror, driving security cameras, or even taking care of a media library. But chances...

Re: How to ZRAM?
I do not have a Solid State Drive, yet, I should be getting a A+ SD tomorrow. What are the recommended SSD to use with USB2? Ralph I'm not aware of a list of known compatible drives, but the one I bought was an "Inland" 120gb SSD for $18. (Inland is Microcenter's house brand). That plus a...

1. First, run the following command to open up the dphys-swapfile in the nano editor. sudo nano /etc/dphys-swapfile 2. In here, find and edit the CONF-SWAPSIZE line, so it looks like the line below. (Changing 100 to 2048) CONF_SWAPSIZE=2048 3. Once done, save and exit by pressing ctrl+x, then y and...

Re: Facing heating problem
It sounds like you are concerned about how hot your Raspberry Pi ZERO is getting. First question: Is this just a concern, or are you actually having problems due to overheating?\ In either scenario, you can cool it by: increasing airflow over the Pi. Usually people have problems with temperature wh...

Re: Pi doesn't boot when pins 5 and 6 are momentarily shorted
I'm sure I have the right pins. It's pins 5 and 6 on this image: https://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Raspberry-Pi-GPIO-Layout-Model-B-Plus-rotated-2700x900.png So, am I right in assuming shorting pins 5 and 9 momentarily would accomplish the same? Because my RPi is in an ac...

Unfortunately, it requires soldering. Not everybody can solder, and even some of those of us who can are reluctant to solder on a board they have not made from scratch (as in, what if I mess up and kill my RPi).

Re: shorting pins 5 and 6 while RPI is on
NOTE the pin 5/6 thing is an anachronism. Now all Pi models have an accessible RUN pin it is unnecessary, and doesn't work if gpio-poweroff is used. Unfortunately, it requires soldering. Not everybody can solder, and even some of those of us who can are reluctant to solder on a board they have not ...
