Re: No display after update

Its a bit unfortunate, that the update process overwrites all user settings in the existing config file.
This caught me too.

Re: (another) Wifi issue

What does lo stand for in the listing ? eth0 is your gigabit ethernet interface, which you are not using. wlan0 is your wireless WiFi lan interface, and this does not pass the no scanning support message. Also your SSH session presumeably worked fine, so your WiFi is definately working. If you have ...

Re: Raspberry 4 not recognizing USB-Hub behind USB-switch

Is the connected USB harddisk powered solely by the USB hub?
I suspect this could be a problem, as not all hubs are up to the job supplying the USB norm power on each port.
It could also be the PSU unit you are powering the hub with, that are a bit too weak.

I had the exact same problem approx 1yr ago with my Pi2, with a standard mini WiFi dongle. Since then, I have reloaded the lates Debian Buster image from the Raspbian download site a couple of times, and the problem never reoccured. I did not have to edit or add anything anymore. Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

I do not (yet) have a Pi4. On my Pi's (zero, 1B, 1B+ ,2B, 3B) its not a problem backfeeding power via the USB to my experience Provided your PSU this way in has enough umph, you can run the Pi off this power. Its best to use the dedicated OTG power port to avoid any sudden power loss if you need to ...

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

It should be possible to power any USB hub via a USB male A to male A from a standard USB supply. These cables are available from AliExpress, Ebay etc. This will of course take up that one hub port used only for power connection. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can always open the hub an...

Re: RPi 3 and TB6600 cannot control bipolar stepper motor

I wonder if this could be a simple pull-up problem on the Pi GPIO pins.
Try connect a 4.7Kohm resistor from each I/O pin in use to the 3.3V supply pin.

Re: Pi 2 seems to be broken.

Yup, that SD card has reached EOL. You dont need more than a 16Gb card for a full raspian image. Any data and user programs should be stored an another media, like a USB stick, to avoid write operations to the SD card. SD cards have limited lifespan because of write operations, which you already hav...

Getting nitty-pitty here :D You are right, I got my memory mixed up. The 1B+ does not have a full schematic released. The CD signal is shown on the schematic for 1A/1B which both uses the earlier large style SD card holder, not the micro SD card holder. However my 1B+ clearly have this switch bulit ...

Re: [Solved] Pi 1 B+ will not boot or will not read SD.

On the schematic for the Pi1B+ there is a clear connection drawn between pin 47 on the CPU and the microSD card CD signal. I did not know that the Pi processor does not use this CD signal. Maybe for special programmed apps where you call the state of this signal, but not to initiate a boot then. The...

Re: PI4 Buster Full headless ssh file

Did you check that the configuration for ssh enabled was set before you created the ssh file directly from the pi desktop? I suspect ssh was enabled after the boot and thus the file was removed by the boot process, meaning it was not necessary (but did no harm) to enter a new ssh file. Then on the s...

Re: Pi 2 seems to be broken.

Running Linux you can try parted from a terminal or gparted from your desktop.
That would give you full access to wipe partitions and reformat your SD card.

You MUST do that before re-imaging the Debian Buster image.

If you keep getting error messages, your SD card is no more, RIP.

Re: Pi 1 B+ will not boot or will not read SD.

Update: I followed Sir Lawson's advice and went on by my own. This defective Pi 1B+ has 2 conclusive problems: 1) The SD card detect switch never closes to GND, meaning the CPU is never notified it can read the SD card inserted and get the boot data. 2) The 1.8V core voltage is 0.0V, which means the...

Coul it be the dongle draws just a bit too much current from the USB port?
