Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I start to see clearer. Unfortunately, I have no experience with OSMC. Hence, I do not know whether it is possible to achieve what you are trying to do. In any case, the forked-daap daemon will not mount the SMB share by itself. You need to do that before forked-daapd is start; otherwise it will fai...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I think I have to ask a few questions first: - What is the OS? Does not look like Rasbian. - How do you mount the SMB share? Do you have an entry in /etc/fstab? - What is the output of `df -h`? - Is this output from the Pi on which you run forked-daapd? [email protected]:/tmp/mnt/My2TB/Backup/Musi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Can you please post the line from you config file where you specify the location of your library.

This does not look right
/192.168.1.1/mnt/My2TB/Backup/Music
This path will likely not exist.

In this context: what is the mount point you are using?

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I am not sure whether you are of the byte representation problem: <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filename#Unicode_interoperability>. MacOS uses one byte representation of Umlaute for filenames and normalizes everything to it. Linux is agnostic. Hence, when looked at in an editor everything looks ide...

That seems to have solved the problem.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Since a few days I encounter the strange situation that iOS "remote" on my iPad and my iPhone both claim that I have no songs in the library when I look in the "Artists" or "Albums" pane. However, when I go to "Search," it will find whatever I am looking for; moreover playlists are shown and work fi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

@beniamino Everything works fine so long as the remote machine is permanently available. But if I use forked-daapd on the local machine while the NFS share is not available, it seems that forked-daapd detects the music directory as being empty, and deletes all the entries from its database. I would ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

"After=remote-fs.target" is in the service file.

The mount is defined in /etc/fstab which then will be handled by systemd as far as I understand. The options are x-systemd.automount,auto.

But is it an afp mount, which I think is not a that well tested piece of code.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Ok, I spoke too fast. I had done one more thing: added the definition of 2 smart playlists. That seems to trigger the problem. May be I am asking for too much from this little system. I deleted the two .smartpl files. And the data base builds again. Now back to my problem that I need to delay the la...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I am new here. I installed a week ago. And everything ran fine for days. Apart from the problem that system.d started forked-daapd before my network volume with the media was made available. I tried to fix that by launching forked-daapd with a script. But now I am stuck with: kernel: Out of memory: ...
