Re: Wearout Prevention of SD card memory

adding discard en noatime to the mount options in /etc/fstab reduces some disk writes. Also you can mount some directories that have high disk writes in ram with tmpfs. The logs will be deleted at shutdown though. Here is my current /etc/fstab: # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <...

I succeeded sticking to this tutorial http://biffengineering.com/wiki/index.php?title=HowToSetupCrossCompileEnvironment I am using Linux Mint Debian. Re: MATE for Raspbian

One of the nice things about MATE is that it can use the rich variety of Gnome 2 themes that are available all over the web to improve the look of the MATE Desktop. To demonstrate this, I went ahead and ported all 15 Bisigi Project themes to MATE and they are now part of the MATE repository. Go her...

Re: MATE for Raspbian

Verry cool that your trying to get MATE working on raspbian! I'm a big fan of the old gnome2 look and feel, and tried MATE once before on ubuntu when it was just released. Back then there where a lot of problems with missing applications and MATE depending on "old" gnome packages in ubuntu. Lets hop...

Re: packages you want to see in raspbian

Last think I would love is a xbmc package, switching sd cards is such a pain, launching it directly from Raspbian would be wonderful. That shouldn't be to hard I guess. XBMC already builds and runs for the rpi. You would only need to know if the "standard" XBMC-source needs any patching and where y...

out of interest i wonder how XBMC is running on the RPi. i mean is it using xinit ? or is it not using X ?

XBMC depends on X to run so i'm guessing they are using xbmc-standalone and xinit or another startup script

Quake 3 uses the id 3 tech engine. Doom uses the id 4 tech engine with quite a different hardware requirement. Doom 3 wouldn't even run on a playable speed at full on my 512mb graphics card.

What about a raspberry-pi quake 3 competition. With one raspberry running as a server and lets say 4 running the quake client. The winner of the match wins this 175 dollar all in one quake 3 lan party :D
