Re: Assign a static ip address to USB port of raspberry pi

Is it possible to assign a IP to USB of raspberry Pi. If yes, please help me how to do it. Is it possible? Maybe. It may depend on the Pi model you have and what USB support it has. For example with the Pi Zero W (and I think Pi Zero) it is possible to configure the USB port for USB Ethernet Gadget...

Pi Zero W USB Ethernet Gadget with Asus Router Fix

It appears to be possible to setup a Pi Zero W running Pi-Hole in USB Ethernet Gadget mode and connect it to an Asus Router with USB ports (RT-AC68U) running Merlin firmware. Unknown if this procedure works with non Merlin firmware ASUS routers or with other manufacturer routers. It does involve qui...

If it doesn't suffice, try to stop forked-daapd, move /var/cache/forked-daapd/songs3.db to a backup location, and restart forked-daapd. Then the database will be recreated and everything gets rescanned.
This did the trick. Thanks. Working now. :)

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

For some reason my audiobooks are no longer being separated from music even though the music and audiobooks are in separate NFS network shares. Is this tied to using NFS rather than CIFS for a network share? Or is there some other cause for this issue? Using version 26.5. I've tried several differen...

Re: Creating image file from SD card.

Know some do not want to use the command line. But for those who don't mind using the command line, one option is to use DD within the Pi OS (if that OS has DD) and create an image file either to a USB hard drive attached to the Pi or across the network to a NAS device. I currently use a variation o...

Re: Recording Video files over 4GB to external USB drives

On Stretch Lite I've got a NTFS formatted USB drive mounted where I've backed up (using DD) a 30GB file to the USB drive without issue. I use the following commands when setting up and mounting the USB drive to a folder called USB1 in the /home/pi directory. Note the text in parentheses is not used ...

Update to the issues with the web portion not working properly I posted about earlier ( https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=49928&start=1425#p1429469 ). Ran a apt-get dist-upgrade earlier today and 13 items were upgraded (didn't think to note which ones at the time). Post dist-up...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Question. Any particular reason why I'm seeing "web: LWS Ran out of header data space" entries in the log file when I cannot reach the web interface? Getting "Connection lost. Reconnecting ... (6)" when attempting to access the web interface. Edit to add: After some further investigation the underly...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

This may be a rather noob question but has anyone successfully gotten Bluetooth output to a Bluetooth speaker working Forked-Daapd installed on the current version of Raspbian Stretch Lite (November 2018) on a Pi board that has embedded Bluetooth? Followed the 2017 directions ( https://github.com/ej...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, see /var/log/forked-daapd.log. The command "service forked-daapd status" might also give you some info. If you followed the instructions in the original post a .service file should have been installed that enables this. So check the former to see why it isn't working. Yes, see https://github.c...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Forgive me if this has been asked/answered in the past been looking around and haven't seen anything specific on it yet. Have installed to a Pi 3 B+ running Rasabian Lite but have run into a problem where the service stops all by itself and needs to be restarted. And the service isn't loaded (or loa...

Re: Raspbian Stretch Lite on P 3B+ using Bluetooth with Bluetooth Speakers

An update. Used a second Bluetooth device (a soundbar) and was finally able to play music per the setup in the prior post. Downside was the BT connection to the sound bar wasn't stable. Could play wav files but the minute the wav file(s) stopped playing the soundbar would drop the BT connection and ...

Re: Raspbian Stretch Lite on P 3B+ using Bluetooth with Bluetooth Speakers

Ok, I really can't say what's wrong. Yeah that's the strange thing. It should be working based on numerous threads I've read (on non Pi 3 B+ boards), but isn't for some reason. It appears the Bluetooth daemon is 5.43 with Stretch Lite post initial install. And blueasla is not installed initially wi...

Re: Raspbian Stretch Lite on P 3B+ using Bluetooth with Bluetooth Speakers

I don't think you need anything besides a working adapter, the BlueZ deamon, and the BlueALSA service. Still something missing. Here goes a huge wall of text. Here are the steps I used (pulled from at least two different web pages). https://learn.adafruit.com/install-bluez-on-the-raspberry-pi...

Perhaps you just need a clean start.
Already on clean start number three and counting.

Obviously missing something. Probably a missing module or service that's in the full Stretch but missing in Stretch Lite.

Re: Raspbian Stretch Lite on P 3B+ using Bluetooth with Bluetooth Speakers

Another update. As a troubleshooting step, loaded a full version of Rasbian Stretch. Using the GUI, connected to the Bluetooth speaker and was able to play audio (via VLC) to the BT speaker after selecting the BT speaker under the GUI speaker icon. So the issue is obviously with Rasbian Stretch Lite...

Is the speaker paired and trusted? Enter bluetoothctl and type in 'info <bdaddr>'. What does it say? Yes the bluetooth device is connected. Per the bluetoothctl info <bdaddr>: Paired: yes Trusted: yes Blocked: no Connected: yes It appears bluealsa is not working properly, not installed properly, or...

Raspbian Stretch Lite on P 3B+ using Bluetooth with Bluetooth Speakers

OK time for another bluetooth question. :D Running Raspbian Stretch Lite on P 3B+. Trying to setup Bluetooth to pipe audio to a Bluetooth speaker (first gen Alexa Echo for example).
