Help please: serially connected to RPi zero help configure terminal

I have connected to a RPi zero over serial. I log in and everything thing is fine until I try to run htop or vi.

The host computer is running open look on Solaris 2.5.1.

Any help with getting the terminals to work properly would be appropriated.

Re: Usb console on raspberry pi help

Apologies - I thought the USB end was the 486 and not the Pi  I’ve had a little hunt (for the fun) and found an option that may do what you need. If you plug the USB adapter into the Pi do you get a new device like /dev/ttyUSB or /dev/ttyACM to show it is recognised? If so, you could try the ...

Re: A better raspian 4 pi zero

So i installed the non GUI version. Then ran update / upgrade to bringing it up to date. I want a GUI, so installed x11, and olvwm. The little pi, runs fast. I have been a Linux user since 0.92 version. The pi zero is a lot more powerful than my 486 sx25 with 4mb Ram. I will try to install a light b...

A better raspbian for pi zero

The current raspbian is so bloated that install take so long. Then the update after boot take hours still going after 3. The reason why I bring this up. I found an old copy of Linux, kernel 3.x. Wow that system was fast, and worked wonderfully. Yet when the current noobs is great on the quad cores. ...

Cool-retro-term works now well on Raspbian. See my installation instructions at https://github.com/rricharz/pidp11-2.11 ... r/Cool.pdf
Thank you so much. The changing of the gl driver enabled cool retro term to run on my pi zero smoothly.

Re: Chromium v72

New chromium is freezing up my system. Lucky I can ssh and reboot. I also noticed a lot of chromium threads in htop. How's your swap? Note that your system will 100% hang and freeze if you let the system fill its RAM to 100%, which will happen the moment it can't swap. Swap is set at 100MB at defau...

Best option for the best supported 64-bit OS is viewtopic.php?f=54&t=188448

Note: it is not supported or blessed by RPT/RPF it's the work of a dedicated hobbyist.

Re: switching to 64bit kernel

First...NOOBS is not an operating system. It is an OS installer. Second, Raspbian (the fully supported OS for Pi by the Raspberry Pi Foundation) is a 32-bit system. There is a long thread in this forum of people asking for an official 64-bit OS and debating the virtues and methods of various option...
