Re: Foundation Camera Board information

IIRC, the Raspi uses the CSI-2 port for incoming frame data and I2C 0 to communicate with the camera. So then anything on I2C 1 is unaffected? Is this different for the rev. 1 models (I have an assortment of both revisions)? And with respect to the I2C channel which the camera is using, shouldn't i...

Re: Foundation Camera Board information

I would like to use i2c for switching camera LED, is it possible? No, the LED is on its own separate GPIO line and can not be controlled through the I2C. Also you do NOT wan to mess with the I2C whilst the camera is running. You are likely to interfere with the normal command flow. Can you please c...

Re: Program Pi for prison ed

Some very basic iptables firewall rules could also achieve this. Essentially, you can set it up so that it can only access internet pages on a specific server, and drop (block) the rest.

Re: Motion - MMAL camera

In configs/motion-mmalcam.conf:
The 'daemon on' directive has NO effect.

I did this as a workaround:
nohup ./motion -n -c configs/motion-mmalcam.conf 1>/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null &

Re: Motion - MMAL camera

I cloned your git and compiled it without issue. I read through your build readme and installed the dependencies before attempting to make sure it went smooth. I edited very few conf settings as I am only doing the preliminary testing but GOOD JOB. Runs smoothly so far set to 720p25 @ 750kbps. I am ...

You mean: 'current_limit_override=0x5A000020' right?

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

I went for it added the 'current_limit_override' line to my /boot/config.txt Epic success; the issue is gone. Of course this at the same time as I received my return shipping label to swap for a new Rev.2 model. Anyone see any compelling reason not to just go through with the RMA anyway to get a fre...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

Can anyone speak to the dangers of disabling this overcurrent protection in software? I thought that the protection of this sort was done in hardware. What are the risks of trying this fix?

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

I spoke to Element14/Newark and they think it might be that I have one of the first production runs of the Rev.1 model. I am going to swap one of mine for the new Rev.2 model via the warranty (yay for the free upgrade). This will take some time, but stand by patiently for confirmation that this was ...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

I have not overclocked. And I did take advantage of having two of everything. The problem existed in every combination of the two cameras and Pi boards. I have used multiple power adapters including 'known good' models from the wiki. Also, measured voltage, even when raspivid is running never below ...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

I tried the aforementioned Novatel and had no change in behavior. I also found a Belkin F4U020 powered USB 2.0 hub laying around and tried that (it has an adapter rated at 5v 1A). It also exhibited the same exact issue with reboots when using the camera. I have tried many PSU's rated above 1A withou...

Re: Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

I'm borrowing an adapter from work for a Novatel MiFi device. Rated 1.05A and Novatel branded. Looks like it is the one on the list of "known good" adapters (http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeriphera ... r_Adapters)

I'll report back my findings some time after midnight tonight (EDT).

Raspberry Pi Camera Module Causes Reboot

I recently purchased two of the Raspberry Pi Camera modules and was super excited to try them out. I have two Pi's. One has been running RasBMC solid for the past 7 months -- I even leave it on pretty much 24/7 for instant access to my media in the living room. It gets warm, but runs stably and has ...

Re: GPIO remote switching PC on/off

I am trying to do this exact same thing. I would not recommend connecting the GPIO pin to the motherboard of your other computer. Doing so *might* work, but it also might damage the circuitry on both the motherboard and RPi. You want to separate the control voltage from the RPi from the shorting on ...
