Re: VNC on Buster 64-bit

X11vnc seems to be the solution, https://github.com/raspberrypi/Raspberr ... -636544190, I had issues with tigntvnc and tigervnc as they didn't seem to start the desktop properly.

Re: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version

I think it may not be unloading services and halting them, try

Code: Select all

sudo shutdown -h now

Re: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version

No, though it does show an unencrypted connection warning, which shouldn't be significant as long as you don't port forward your vnc

Re: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version

I found the solution to be to use x11vnc instead, as tightvnc starts a new desktop. This guide worked for me: https://github.com/raspberrypi/Raspberry-Pi-OS-64bit/issues/3#issuecomment-636544190 Run sudo raspi-config and set a resolution. Install x11vnc: sudo apt-get install x11vnc sudo x11vnc -stor...

Re: Is there any way to remove the overclock limit for the pi 4?

Yes, I have proper 3.5A 5.1V power supplies for my pi's and proper heatsinks and fans for coooling. There is no throttling in the logs or with vcgencmd get_throttled. It seems they are fairly stable at 2.147 Ghz, but I want to know if it's possible to push them higher, since I feel like they can han...

Re: Is there any way to remove the overclock limit for the pi 4?

running vcgencmd measure_clock arm correctly reports my pi running at frequency(48)=2147554560 . I ran your script on my pi 4 running ubuntu server 64 bit, and here are my results https://i.postimg.cc/g26DGXND/image.png They're definitely faster, but setting higher than 2147 in /boot/config.txt just...

Re: Is there any way to remove the overclock limit for the pi 4?

I'm pretty sure there is a limit in the firmware as for raspbian and other os's such as ubuntu the hard limit is 2147, 2148 just doesn't work, no matter the pi, and I have 3 which are stable at 2147. I recall the limit used to be 1750, then it was bumped up to 2000, and now 2147. I haven't found any...

Is there any way to remove the overclock limit for the pi 4?

I know this is risky, dumb, unsafe, probably voids warranty, but I'm curious as to how far I can push this little thing. Is there any way to overclock past 2.147 Ghz, which my pi runs stable at, or remove the limiter altogether?

Re: Raspberry pi 4 idles at 25% CPU

Task manager also shows pcmanfm, my pi has no programs running, and trying to close the process does nothing. My pi is also has the root partition on an SSD. I think that pcmanfm is the desktop GUI, but it still shouldn't use that much CPU.

Raspberry pi 4 idles at 25% CPU

I found that sometimes, when I reboot my pi, the CPU idles at 25% according to the cpu usage monitor. Htop shows that this is caused by pcmanfm --desktop --profile LXDE-pi I found that forcefully updating the Pi via rpi-update removes this problem, but after a while it appears again and I have to un...

Subtitles broken for VLC in fullscreen

I tried playing a h265 2160p video on the raspberry pi 4 with VLC media player and a srt subtitles file. However, I've found that while it plays normally with the subtitles showing in windowed mode, as soon as I switch to fullscreen the subtitles disappear but the video still plays normally. I check...

Might want to look at this, https://hackaday.com/2018/10/21/blazing ... h-you-how/ a driver for those spi displays that only updates new pixes in attempts to achieve higher frame rates, which it does pretty well

Re: Heatsink Raiser

I have this

heatsink. In the end I found a random metal coin around 0.5 cm thick laying around fitted it on top of the cpu so that the heatsink isn't blocked by the display and camera ports, applied some thermal paste and now it runs wonderfully!

Heatsink Raiser

I recently salvaged a pretty good heatsink + fan from an old gpu, but like most other fans, it just won't fit the raspberry pi. I was wondering if there was a sort of heatsink raiser I could buy to make the CPU contact the heatsink and fan kind of like the one on the Flirc. I have a model 4B.

Re: Problems with booting from an SSD on a Raspberry Pi 4

Yeah I put the command in /etc/rc.local, and I found that the simplest way to copy it back without other tools was to mount the sd card partition and use

Code: Select all

sudo rsync -avxI / /mnt
Thanks for your help though!

Re: Problems with booting from an SSD on a Raspberry Pi 4

Sorry to bump this thread again but I recently switched the adapter for my SSD, which is now USB 2.0. I removed the quirks from cmdline.txt, and it seems to work, however when my pi boots up it now mounts the SSD as read-only, and I have to execute sudo mount -o remount,rw /dev/sda2 / to be able to ...

Cannot edit mounted USB device without root through command line

When I click on a USB device in the GUI, it mounts it all fine and dandy. However, I'm having trouble doing this the same way through the command line. Audio stuttering and "buffer too late" on vlc media player

I'm trying to watch a movie on the raspberry pi 4 with VLC media player, but around every 10 minutes or so the audio starts glitching and alternates quickly between high and low volume, when I view the messages log I see a lot of main warning: buffer too late (-351071 us): dropped messages, and when...
