Re: Using Raspberry Pi in the classroom

I am a secondary school teacher in the UK who has just started delivering the new Computing course from OCR. I have provided each pupil on the course with a RPi that I intend then to use throughout the course, however, we have not yet powered them on. We have spent some time making cases with the sc...

Re: Click noise when starting analog audio sound playback

Has anyone found a solution to this? I spent a while sorting an XMBC install and this clicking was a game breaker.

Would love to pick this project up again.

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

I don't know why only one person apparently had that issue but if you can get a 'scope on the GPIO pin you should see a 1.2ms pulse repeating every 20ms. If you see something other than that, let us know. Unfortunately I'm a long way from Hull or I'd happily call round to give you a hand. While try...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

Do I delete and recreate or is there a simpler way to "get the c back". You need to delete it and recreate. I have not been successful running servoblaster after installistion. If I do a completely clean install on a new SD card (Wheezy) it works (I have done this 3 times), however after the pi is ...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

If the file exists as -rw-rw-rw- rather than crw-rw-rw- it means it is a regular file, not a character device file. That in turn means you (or some script you ran) did "echo whatever > /dev/servoblaster" before you'd done the mknod command. I assume you've run through all the steps in my post here ...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

Hmm I came up against in interesting problem when I tried to setup the servo after a restart. It did not work so I went through checking some things. ls -l /dev/servoblaster Returned -rw-rw-rw- rather than crw-rw-rw- so I deleted the /dev/servoblaster file and recreated it, but at this point it did ...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

I finally had time to try this all again and got it working. No idea what was wrong last time, I must have just messed something up. Being on a roll I then tried to use python to send commands to servoblaster and it worked a treat. For anyone trying to do this themselves I used the subprocess module...

Re: LCD not working: GPIO error "This channel is already in

I would love to know where this error has come from.

I have run scripts today that never previously gave this error and today it does.

This happened on 5 different Pi's on 5 different sd cards that did not do it this time last week. So weird.

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

So far as the "ls -l /dev/servoblaster" part of my post is concerned, you need to type "ls -l /dev/servoblaster" at the command prompt and check you see similar output to me. You should get a line that starts "crw-rw-rw-" which says it is a character device and everyone has read/write permission, a...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

Thanks jone I know I am doing the hardware right now. It must be a software issue as I have no idea what I am doing. WIll check with a scope this week but Ill bet at this point I am not getting pulses. I tried to emulate what you have done from your consol Todd but could not work out what [email protected]...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

I am in Hull/UK I do not know if the problem is software or hardware, I currently have too many variables to be able to id where the problem is. I have installed the PiBits/Servoblaster stuff and seem to be able to send commands to the file (echo 1-120 > etc etc) but I do know know if it is working ...

Re: Driving multiple servos from the RaspberryPi

I have a big favour to ask. Please continue this development into an easily usable pack to get servos working direct from the Pi. I will explain my request... I am a secondary school physics teacher who has used the Pi to launch a Computer science club after school... All is going well with getting ...

Re: RS accessories delivery

I ordered both the RPi and Accessories on the same day but, due to a lapse of concentration on my part, in 2 different orders. My RPi has arrived but still no accessories. I am also having issues finding any shipping info for the accessories and have had no reply from RS to emails sent to RaspberryP...
