Re: how to compile ffmpeg with hardware acceleration support

Thank you both! This was the guidance I needed. All sorted and up and running now. hello @pboh is it performing good ? i need to run 2 ffmpeg instances at same time for a long running task(video transcoding/re-streaming), do you think RPI 4b with 4gb memory could handle this scenario , could you sh...

Re: how to compile ffmpeg with hardware acceleration support

Have had a lot of back and forth trying to figure out which of a few similar threads is best suited for my question, and maybe this is the winner :) I'm trying to compile FFMPEG-4.2.2 from @popcornmix's gbm repo at: https://github.com/popcornmix/xbmc/tree/gbm/tools/depends/target/ffmpeg , and have h...

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

Updated the 8822bu driver with new source and it appears to be working OK now. No more kernel panics etc.

MrEngman
Working great now, thank you for your help!

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

Trying to get the drivers sorted out for kernel 5.4. 8188eu drivers are now available for 5.4.35+ #1314. Currently just running on a Pi 0W and a Pi 3A+ but appear to be OK. It would be really useful if RPF could include them in their images. MrEngman Brilliant, thank you. I'm about to test that one...

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

- as called out in another post in this thread, I can't seem to play most videos in Kodi - unless I disable CEC the HDMI on my displays flips (which is not the real problem, that's just an annoyance I can fix), but video does not play when the v3d-pi4 overlay is on (with or without rpivid-v4l2) To ...

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

MrEngman. Have you started building your WiFi modules for 5.4? Running command 'sudo rpi-update' will load: kernel revision = 5.4.35+ kernel build = #1314 Checking for a 8188eu wifi driver module if you run command 'sudo rpi-update'. A driver does not yet exist for this update. Or have you pursuade...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Hi all. I hope everyone and your family/friends are keeping well while being sequestered! I also hope this is not considered hijacking an old thread - I spent a good deal of time looking for the most appropriate forum/thread. Please feel free to redirect! Problem statement: Cannot launch kodi from a...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 as a NAS or personal cloud server?

Thanks again! Yeah, if you do have any time and end up fiddling around and are able to get UAS working with the Hotway, maybe post back with that? I'm still working with a hodgepodge of various single-drive SATA-to-USB adaptors, some of which work with UAS right away, others of which having terrible...

Re: DVFS Firmware

It would be useful to know whether core_freq=600 works (instead of gpu_freq=600) and failing that whether core_freq=550 is ok. Overclocking the core or using a fixed core-frequency requires a larger voltage with only a small performance benefit. It's possible that this has pushed the configuration ...

Re: DVFS Firmware

My pi4 is running as an audio player using JRiver's MediaCenter and after this update I'm seeing about 3 degree drop in temps when in normal playback mode (some minor DSP volume leveling and equalizer stuff). I do have a 3.3V fan in vented case. However, I'm seeing a boot issue when I enable overcl...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 as a NAS or personal cloud server?

Thank you so much for the detail around your solution and the other examples throughout this thread as well! I bought a 4B+ 2GB to use as a NAS as well, and after spending some time with OMV and other app-based/ish solutions settled on using native functionality in the OS (SAMBA, mdadm-driven RAID, ...

Re: Ubuntu 18 Server on Raspberry Pi 3B+

Hi there. Thanks for writing such a comprehensive guide! I'm having trouble accessing the second partition referenced in your doc (cloudimg-rootfs). I'm using the LTS image referenced in your doc as well as a number of other variants from the Ubuntu site, but can't seem to get the second partition t...
