Re: Looping camera for dashcam

Try my github :) it works and uses the Pi camera but you can edit the script and add usb cameras if needed.

Re: is Raspberry pi as Dashcam a viable option?

I've created a github for my version of the dashcam and it works fantastic, no dropping video packets or studdering. :)

no login screen only ssh

HI,

Can anyone tell me why after creating a new service i do not get the login screen? It says [ok] started hostname service then [ok] started permit user sessions then [ok] started openBSD secure Shell Server then [ok] started record dashcam and hangs there as if its waiting for something else.

Re: Cardash cam

Nice! Thanks for figuring out some good settings for raspivid. I like the simplicity of using shell scripts. One thing about the date format, if you use a numeric format it will sort better once you have several video files. For example: current_time=$(date "+%F_%H.%M.%S") # or current_time=$(date ...

Interesting that you did the scripting with bash scripts rather than using Python and picamera. What brought you to choose that method?
I found it easier to write using bash scripts as i don't know python at all.

Re: Just a little bit more help with ffmpeg please

Brilliant. I've not put the segment in as my script recalls it over and over to 100. see below. Will put on github as the original developer is no longer looking after it. #!/bin/sh sudo modprobe bcm2835-v4l2 file_name=/home/pi/CamProj/video/ for i in `seq 1 1 100` do echo "Welcome $i times..." curr...

Re: Just a little bit more help with ffmpeg please

Testing your commandline, it appears to be pulling raw pixel data from the camera device and then using software to encode it, however I do have a custom build of ffmpeg. In that case you may as well use the ffmpeg filter to scrawl on your image - read the docs for info (-vf "drawtext..."). Alterna...

Re: Just a little bit more help with ffmpeg please

6by9 what would you recommend? I'm open to changing it. Basically i'm using this to record video from the /dev/video0 which uses a pi camera but not found a great script or cant write one to make it record to either mp4, avi. I've tried h264 that records but drops frames like no other.

Oh, Brilliant. Thank you.

Is it possible to make the recording to mp4 or avi which ever is less processing instead of me manually converting?

Thank you Tpyo King.

Re: Changing from USB to onboard camera

Perfect thank you.

Load's like a charm. Now all i got to figure out is running the scripts after modules has loaded as it seems the crontab is not loading my scripts.

Starting two scripts

Hi,

Is there a way to start two script immediately after boot (i.e. after all modules have been loaded and system is up)?

So i want to start a record.sh and a delete.sh script but only after the camera module has been enabled in the /etc/modules folder.

Any suggestions would be great.

This only works if you manually create and run through the script. I manually installed sql, apache2, ffmpeg and it now works.

8 channel CCTV with Pi 3 B

Hi, Is it possible to create a board or have the Pi run as a CCTv with 8 outdoor cameras on it? We are looking to upgrade our home cctv. However the cost of units are stupid and I have a spare Pi which i want to turn into a CCTV system instead. (the other one is running a car headunit and diagnostic...
