Re: Small WiFi adaptor

Just have to say that I connect to my raspi with VNC, so no need to have a keyboard and mouse... I know I'm using the 2 USB slots... The thing is that my raspi is powered from a lipo battery and solar charger. With a little sun and wifi signal, it is a completely power autonomous computer and it wor...

Re: Using the 2 USB slots = 300mA

The thing is that my raspi is powered form a lipo battery, a 5v, 1A regulator and is charged by solar power. I connect to the raspi with VNC, so no need for a keyboard... My dongle is not working at all using 1 USB slot, even with a 5v, 1a adapter. So yes, when I get sun and wifi signal I have a sol...

Re: Small WiFi adaptor

I managed to get a wifi dongle working directly from the 2 USB slots on the RasPi. With a dual USB cable I already got from a broken hard drive enclosure I had and one female/female adapter. Using the two slots are effectively pushing 300mA to the dongle. (!!!) I found a cable for sale, no need for ...

Re: Battery backup power

Great to see that your things are working fine ! So, after getting everything I needed and after some testing, I can say for now that my raspi works fine with only one 3.7v/ 6A LiPo batt and the solar panel, this first test, with the battery fully charged and with the USB charger unplugged, it laste...

Re: Battery backup power

As for me, a USP with my "very tiny small little RasPi"... thanks, but not really.

I will never myself hook up 2 or more LiPo.

I just don't want those nasty things to happen... :o

Re: Battery backup power

Ahh - someone with Lipo experience ..... @ shak7 - How stupid or unlucky do you have to be for your lipos to catch fire....? Can that happen if you over-charge or over-drain them? I'm using lipos and worry after reading this: http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t519305p1/ what precautions should I ta...

Re: Battery backup power

I already have a good solar + LiPo + usb solution for my Arduino and I have a similar solution for the RasPi. I will test tomorrow, after I get the stuff I ordered. With a WiFi dongle and a VNC connection, I will have access to a wireless and almost wall power independent RasPi. SeeedStudio LiPo Rid...

Re: synaptic not showing using VNC

Had the same problem with other computers running Linux and vnc,

Maybe enabling SSH solves the problem,

In the meantime, sudo apt-get install xxxx works fine.
