Re: Advance MAME (Findings so far)
I'm running 106.1 . If you are getting an error on the command line but it works in X, it's probably because you havent set your display clock in the advmame.rc file. I did set those values, and I've tried it on a few different monitors and a tv. I get a brief flash of oversized text then a blank s...

Re: Advance MAME (Findings so far)
I tried with 0.160.0, but some things weren't working, I switched to 0.106.1, and I haven't had any issues. Both were compiled with gcc-4.7 and doesn't require X.

Re: terrible slow & cant add hard disk
Ok, it should have been accessible in /mnt/usb0 too, weird.

Re: MAME Distro
It's working now!
The bublbobl rom does require an extra left-right to get going, I'm not sure I actually caught that the first time around...
It's not the smoothest of experiences when there's a lot of bubbles floating around though, even at 900/500MHz.

Re: MAME Distro
I've set mine to 800MHz for this compile, didn't want to over do it, as I'm not sure my powersupply can deliver the required ampage.

Re: terrible slow & cant add hard disk
In the "add source", are you unable to browse to /media/usb0 ?

Re: MAME Distro
@lukeren: Both of your roms work for me (advancemame 0.106.1), but the screen does go black after the typical warning message. Just left-right it again during the blackness to continue. I read somewhere that I should use the 0.106.0 release, I'll try and build the .1 release instead, see ya in 7 ho...

Re: terrible slow & cant add hard disk
By desktop, do you mean X?
If you navigate the filesystem when adding a source, can't you find the drive in the /mnt folder?

Re: terrible slow & cant add hard disk
Also, if you just want to use it for xbmc, I can highly recommend the raspbmc image.
It worked out of the box for me, and although the menus aren't as fast as on my pc, it's still pretty good.

Re: terrible slow & cant add hard disk
What list is the disk in?
Do you have any movies added? Or does it take 2 minutes to show you an empty list?

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend
Weird.
I'll get another powersupply and then see if that does it.
Thanks for the quick responses

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend
Nothing happens I'm afraid. Keyboard is completely dead. I've tried running a mame game, and on the "press left then right" screen, the keyboard is also dead. I'll try and hunt down a new powersupply, as then one I have might be a tad in the low end. The thing is everything works great wit...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend
I’ve got it working great for SNES (only thing I’ve used so far), but I’m having a bit of a problem with exiting a game. F4 works while at the menu (emulationstation), but the keyboard appears dead (caps lock/numlock doesn’t react) when a game is running. Am I missing a setting somewhere? I used the...

Re: MAME Distro
@benjaminkeith:
Do you by chance have the bublbobl or invaders rom, and do they work?
I've got a few roms working, but others just give me a black screen and I'm curious if it's something to do with my build or it's simply advancemame that just can't handle it on the RPi.

Re: Advance MAME (Findings so far)
Compile from source worked! Before running configure, I changed to gcc 4.7 by doing this: apt-get install gcc-4.7 export CC=gcc-4.7 export GCC=g++-4.7 Then: ./configure make make install It takes a good while to compile, I just left it during the night. I've still got problems running some roms, I j...

Re: Advance MAME (Findings so far)
@lukeren - Not just me then. I'm on the latest Raspbian, all updated but no additional out-of-distro patches. You? Same here. I'm compiling from source now to see if that'll help, but I'm not holding my breath. I've changed to gcc 4.7, as I saw that suggested elsewhere to help get the thing to actu...

Re: Advance MAME (Findings so far)
I'm having the same error: Signal SIGSEGV[MAPERR], fault at 05x54442d18, from code at (nil) Compiled Jun 11 2012, 17:28:43 No stack backtrace: compile without CFLAGS=-fomit-frame-pointer and with LFLAGS=-rdynamic On the bublbobl ROM I get this one too: 68701.bin NOT FOUND (NO GOOD DUMP KNOWN) Not en...
