You are right, it seems to work without the group option an running as sudo. Still I am pretty sure I need the group option to control my switches.

If I leave the -g out I get a segmentation fault

I've used the directions in Sander's post above and got everything installed fine. Rfbb is loaded and /dev/rfbb is made. Thank you for the detailed post. My problem indeed seemed to be that my qemu version was too old. Furthermore, pinging still didn't work, but downloading/updating did work correctly and that was the main thing.

For me changing the resolv.conf just results in non working dns at all. Where did you get the 10.0.2.2 from? Is that the nameserver of your "wider" subnet?

I also still have problems with trying to get this image to boot using qemu under linux. I alos tried the link from plugwash, which did boot, but I couldn't get internet to work. DNS seemed to work fine, but I couldn't ping/download anything. This was not a problem before with the non raspbian image .
