Re: Problem to write Android Image

Since this concerns LineageOS 15.1 why are you not posting in the correct thread (https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=220613&sid=0ff1eed0d78b342c9e389f2f4b4c6546) instead of opening a new one? Similar question has actually already been discussed there so you would have found your...

Re: Help Android Raspberry pi

Good day, I'm new and not very experienced, I had a raspberry pi 2 in the attic, to use it in some way I installed on a 32-gigabyte sd card I had (and7_1-rpi2_3-23022017), everything went well, it works well just that I do not have the reboot and shutdown buttons, there is the possibility to instal...

Re: Android Pie on RPi 3B(+) with hardware acceleration

Some source code has been upload to github: https://github.com/brobwind/pie-device-brobwind-rpi3 You can build it from source code now. Thanks I see display HALs and MESA are in binary form which unfortunately doesn't help open source development (nor anyone can help you fix the remaining issues). ...

Re: Android Pie on RPi 3B(+) with hardware acceleration

Yes, I use the mainline drm_hwcomposer with a little modification to make it work, but I do not use the drm_gralloc (don't how to make it work), I use the minigbm for gralloc from chromium project (also needs a little modification) and it works pretty well with the latest mesa 3d source code. The s...

Awesome, great work! Thanks for sharing this. :D Can you tell more about the hardware accelerated graphics? I see you're using latest MESA 19. Are you using mainline drm_hwcomposer and drm_gralloc as well? Getting the mainline graphics working with VC4 would be a huge win. Are you planning on open s...

Re: Android image for Rasberry Pi3 B+

Ah yes, I missed the 3B+ requirement. I was notified of the LineageOS 14.1 7.1.2 August 2018 update, and I started to convert it, but it got postponed due to Sourceforge's over eager false-positive checkers that I had to deal with and updates to PINN which took priority. I will get back onto it aga...

PINN is also able to install LineageOS14 with just a couple of clicks.
LineageOS 14.1 doesn't support Pi 3 B+, though.

What LineageOS 14.1 build does PINN install? 20171117 that's over an year old? There's been several updates after that with various improvements and security updates.

Re: Does anyone actually run Android on the Pi as a daily OS?

According to LineageOS statistics there's 15000+ active devices (who've opted for stats collection). Raspberry Pi is a $35 device with hardware specs matching middle/low-end Android devices from three years ago. Raspberry Pi is not an Android device to begin with which also brings its own set of lim...

In fact, none of the Android variaties (can) make use of the acceleration brought by the RPI’s GPU, that Raspbian does use. How come? Nougat based builds use open source VC4 graphics driver. You can optionally use it with Raspbian as well instead of the closed one. Broadcom just doesn't provide And...

Hi, can we control the gpio pins through shell commands? Does your kernel support it? If yes, would you mind writing a few sample commands for usage? Thanks for your android builds, they're great! Yes, kernel supports it and you can control GPIO pins in shell. I haven't played around with this much...

Many people don't realise that the GPL licence means taking someone else code and selling it is perfectly legal, almost encourged. Shame the project is stalled, but when you work on an open source project, this is what you need to expect. Some people will try and monetise your work, if you don't do ...

As for actual Android running on the Pi, I remain entirely unconvinced there is much computer educational benefit to this. Certainly nowhere near enough to make it worthwhile having an official port, with the huge associated costs. Any open source development can be very educational. :) While I agr...
