Re: amateur home NAS with rpi, powering the HDD's

There are already multiple USB hubs built in to the Pi, so using an additional external hub to is unlikely to make much difference in throughput. Even so, there should be enough bandwidth to saturate a 100 mbit network connection. Just to nitpick for a sec the Pi (up to and including the 3b+) uses ...

Re: HOWTO - Using Raspberry Pi 3+ as Plex Media Server

What method can I use to get a plex to join a video in the NAS? Just as a point of clarification, your NAS can probably run Plex itself. Theres very little reason to run Plex on a platform aside from where the videos are stored unless you are doing transcoding (which with the Pi, you sure arent).

For giggles I tested the SSD and then a ramdisk. Network throughput is very good. Using a USB attached disk cuts it roughly in half which is completely expected since the bus is shared.

Re: Samba performance with 3+?

Then, I expected RPI 3B+ to increase my network performance since we now indeed have a gigabit chip. But I guess my bottleneck is in the USB 2.0 bus and not in the network chip. I still have the same ~10MB/s performance (I do see peaks of 11 to 12 MBps but not sustained). I do not think there is an...
