Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

Is RealVNC Server arm64 OK now? (for cloud access) (sudo apt upgrade) No it doesn't work. MMAL libraries that it needs were currently removed from the distro due to their unstable behavior. With the help of 6by9 we found out there is no easy fix for it. Btw, despite our fruitless attempts, I still ...

Probably not.

Code: Select all

file /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/ld-2.28.so
is what you wanted.
Sorry I thought the same and tried to find it and modified my post. It is exactly where you said, but as I understand previous library searches for it in the wrong place.

Please run file /usr/bin/vncserver-virtual (If it complains that the file doesn't exist or similar, then use "which vncserver" and then "file" on what that returns. If that is reported as a symbolic link, run "file" on the target of the link). Here is the output pi@ras...

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

I tried only reverting the first one and also got a bundle of very similar errors to yours. Sorry for this, Indeed it seems that the second revert didn't apply at first. Now everything compiles as intended. Unfortunately, running vncserver still gives an error message: pi@raspberrypi:~/userland $ v...

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

MMAL failed in a bizarre way under some circumstances. Which is better, random failures, or not starting? This is a good question. I am using 64 bit image right from the start of beta and had no problems with VNC. So I think it is safe to assume that there are programs that use MMAL and have no pro...

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

MMAL isn't supported on 64bit builds at present. I have no knowledge of why VNC server is using MMAL - it isn't required for screen scraping. They may be using it for video encoding, but I thought they normally used their own (proprietary) codec instead of H264. I believe that in one way or another...

Re: STICKY: Raspberry Pi OS (64 bit) beta test version feedback

May be someone got the same issue. I just got new RPi 4 with 8Gb. When I start with the new image of Raspberry Pi OS 64bit, VNC server works fine out of the box. However, when I update the system with sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade it stops working. My Windows computer says that connection was...

Re: RPi 3b performance in DMIPS compared to other Broadcom SOCs.

@ W. H. Heydt Thanks for the reply! Was away for some time. Correct me if I am wrong. Taking into account that all chips in consideration have Cortex-A53 architecture it seems plausible to assume that for some reason Roy has chosen to report per core results and multiplying them by 4 will give you t...

RPi 3b performance in DMIPS compared to other Broadcom SOCs.

As a new year is approaches and probably new RPi 4 is coming I tried to get an idea about how new RPi's processor might look like. Assuming that RPF continues to use Broadcom's SOCs I found the page listing all their chips: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Broadcom Since we are talking about RPi one should...

Lags in omxplayer after an update

After performing an update last Monday (12/11/18), when apt-get offered me to upgrade something like 31 packages, I noticed that omxplayer started to drop frame rate during the playback of video files periodically. If I remember correctly, the majority of updated packages were related to ghost scrip...

Pity to hear that. I am extensively using Google services so many things depend on the Google's account, but I will give a try to Vivaldi. If you happen to have older RPi, e.g. RPi 3b you can take a look at this https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 9#p1363177 It worked for me.

Copy the contents of /lib/firmware/brcm/ from the latest Raspbian root partition to your Ubuntu Mate root partition. There appear to be ONLY three files which need to be added to Ubuntu to get the WiFi card running on the 3B+. Those are: brcmfmac43455-sdio.bin brcmfmac43455-sdio.clm_blob brcmfmac43...

Re: Ubuntu Mate 18.04???

I started with the "official" Ubuntu Mate 16.04 image and installed it on a Pi 3B. I then did the "sudo BRANCH=stable rpi-update" trick. This allowed the image to run on the Pi 3B+. I had run that for a few weeks, added a few packages etc. I then upgraded that working image to 1...

Re: Volume was not properly unmounted... message at Stretch

[SOLVED] It turned out that the dirty flag was set not for boot or root partitions, but for a USB stick. Simple

Code: Select all

sudo umount /dev/sda1
sudo fsck -V /dev/sda1
sudo reboot

Did the job.

Volume was not properly unmounted... message at Stretch

dmesg command keeps posting "Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck." To run fsck I used both methods sudo touch /forcefsck; sudo reboot And it seemed to work, but since I got another message in journalctl --since=yesterday urging me instead of creatin...

Re: Unstable 5Ghz wifi connection on RPi 3B+

@k-pi, probably you should run the test several times to get more accurate numbers. For example, in my case test results were varying between 6Mbps up speed to 10Mbps and I think other equipment on the ISP side was responsible for these fluctuations. @HawaiianPi, I tested my connection with my phone...
