Re: WoTT - An attempt to automate Raspberry Pi security

Really big fan of Screenly. The headaches it has eliminated from using other digital signage solutions (even expensive paid ones) won't be missed. Thank you for the kind words! I've used WoTT a little and it was straightforward and simple. The question I have is about the specifics of the Active De...

WoTT - An attempt to automate Raspberry Pi security

Hi guys, Viktor here, the creator of Screenly. Recently, I’ve been busy hacking on a new project called Web of Trusted Things (WoTT). The concept behind WoTT is to simplify credential management (think API keys and password etc), certificate management (every device gets an x509 certificate as an id...

Is there a way to add the ability for token based authentication to Screenly in the OSE or Pro?
Not yet. It's however something that we have for the roadmap for Pro.

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

I can't see any reason why that wouldn't work. Only caveat is that the website cannot be too heavy. Hi all, First post here and new to Raspberry Pi Can Screenly run just one item? i.e. one video file or web page Reason i ask is that I am looking at setting up a display with 4 separate images using 4...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Interesting. Yeah, I know we've seen strange issues with SD cards over the years, but I don't recall any situation where the card wasn't detected. Thank you! It was the SD card(s). It seems that Samsung 32GB 95MB/s (U1) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card will not boot on the 3B+ but will boot on the 3B ...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

I'm unable to reproduce this. I just flashed out the release ( https://github.com/Screenly/screenly-ose/releases/tag/v0.15 ) to an SD card and was able to boot it just fine on a B+. Perhaps the the download or disk image was corrupt. I would suggest that you re-download the disk image (and validate ...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Very interesting. I will take a look at this later today. I'm trying to get Screenly OSE up and running on a 3B+ but I'm having issues so I'm asking for help. I noticed under Bugfixes / improvements for "My Michelle - Sprint 7 Completed" it says * Adds support for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ so I went a...

Hello,

we are trying the first steps with Screenly OSE.
The weather widget is a very nice idea, but the contrast is much to low. How can we change the background picture or the font color to black.

Thanks and regards,
Marco
Hi Marco,

That's not something we support at the moment.

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

There are a lot of things changing as far as networking goes in both Debian/Raspbian/Ubuntu in recent releases. My recommendation would be that you dig further down the path of Network Manager (nmcli). There are two reasons for this: * It is emerging as the standard for WiFi configurations * It is t...

Hi all, I'm looking to configure Screenly for a hidden WiFi network and am failing via the new resin portal. Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Hi Stefan, The normal workflow for making these kind of changes is to fork the Github repository and then make changes there. You can then simply checkout your own fork of Screenly OSE directly on the Raspberry Pi. The benefit with this approach over just making changes is that you can easily track ...

Sonar - Wireless foot traffic counter using a Raspberry Pi

Hi guys, I just wanted to share a side project that I have been hacking on. It's called Sonar ( https://github.com/databat-io/sonar ) and the idea is to use a Raspberry Pi to collect metrics of the amount of people in the surrounding area wirelessly (using Bluetooth and WiFi). You can then get sleek...

How can you restart the player (= turn back on the GUI) once you've killed it ? I noticed that when I run 'pkill x', video assets will keep playing, but web...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

I recently installed Screenly on a couple Pis using NOOBS. I turned off the 24-hour clock on the Settings, but the clock asset still displays in the 24-hour format. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks! Could be a bug. Create an issue on Github (http://github.com/screenly/screenly-ose) with steps...
