Re: Security Camera

1. This is what motion does... Read up on the documentation of motion.
2. This is a forum for the CSI camera board. Since you are using a webcam, this is the wrong forum.
3. There are already alot of threads about this subject, search instead of opening a new thread.

You are welcome.

Re: Motion - MMAL camera

FYI I've moved the temporary binary build to Dropbox from Google Drive. This should hopefully be even easier for everyone! It is now at this location: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xdfcxm5hu71s97d/motion-mmal.tar.gz You shouldn't need to sign up for or install Dropbox to access it - use the link in a b...

There must be some kind of misunderstanding here as I haven't copied it at all, Andrew did. you've got us mixed up.
You are correct, I got misled from the sentence "glad to see were all friends again". I was thinking it was strange. My apologies.

Nu7s, well done for standing for your copyright, but that's always going to be a problem with posting stuff on the web. I speak from the experience of having my copyright infringed on a regular basis and it sucks ! Then I really don't understand why you copied it without asking. How about the abili...

The give away is the simple fact Liz knows the difference between "trademark"and "copyright". The imposter clearly doesn't. Nothing wrong with using the words "raspberry pi". It is encouraged! They haven't sold 1Million+ units by keeping it quiet :) Actually, You're wrong there! I've been told by t...

Looking great! Just FYI, you can use panogio.com to upload your panorama's and view them. Some of mine: http://www.panogio.com/user/handsdown It does have it's limits, so I bought Krpano and upload them to my own hosting: http://www.handsdown.be/ruwaardhof/ I'd love to use a robot as yours, taking t...

Re: Raspicam Command Line Generator

I think I understand the difference: I look at it through the eyes of a webdesigner. With my approach, when adding/changing options, there only need to be changes made to the part of code in the body of the webpage. Adding div's, define the id's and calling the javascript script is all done in one p...

@soare: I'm glad you liked it and took the time to reply. :) @AndrewS: Why would a 100+ line javascript code be better then a 28 line one that gives the same output and can be understood by anyone with some very basic scripting experience? What's the point in making things more complex then they nee...

Please remove that page from your web server. I do not appreciate it that you copied my code, are hotlinking to images on my webhosting, are using my company logo and name and decided it was ok to "streamline" my code to suit your style of programming without asking beforehand. The filename during timelapse it pretty versatile. It uses the same formatting as printf, so... -o filename%d.jpg == filename1.jpg, filename2.jpg etc -o filename%04d.jpg == filename0001.jpg, filename0002.jpg etc -o filename%dplus.jpg == filename1plus.jpg, filename2plus.jpg etc Look up printf format...

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Soare: I split the -t command between the raspivid and raspistill specific settings. I tried to stick as close to the official document, but you are 100% correct, it's confusing. :)

From the FAQ
Our main function is a charitable one – we’re trying to build the cheapest possible computer that provides a certain basic level of functionality, and keeping the price low.

You should be given a process id. You need to kill that process to stop the script.

I created a .sh file with my code:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
sudo raspistill -w 1000 -h 500 -o test%d.jpg -t 18000000 -tl 60000
Made it executable:

Code: Select all

chmod 777 test.sh
And ran it with the command:

Code: Select all

. test.sh &
Runs perfectly fine in the background.

Raspicam Command Line Generator

I recently got myself a Raspicam and I love it. But changing one option in the command line is a lengthy process, so I made a generator to make my (and perhaps your) life a bit easier. http://www.handsdown.be/raspicam/ Using it is really simple: You select the options you want and press the generate...

Re: Motion - Ip Camera Possible

Isn't the following aproach easier: You let the raspicam take pictures every x msec and store it into 1 folder. When there is motion, you copy these pictures to a seperate "locked" folder. When space on the first folder gets low, you delete the oldest pictures. The interesting pictures remain safe i...

I could be wrong, but aren't you mixing up 2 different things? Isn't a timelapse a series of photo's made into a video instead of recording a video?
