Re: Cannot boot anymore, root account locked

Hi guys, I am very sorry about this, but since you are talking about your signature mutrised, I was curious about your Pi0W setup. Do you have any link to share about it ? « RPI0W - VPN gateway providing secure WIFI AP and network router, some kind of internet BOX when on the move ;) » I would have ...

Re: Pi 3B+ / Shorting 3.3V to GND

But the chip’s “delicate internal” must have a melting threshold, right ? If the fuse’s rating is below, couldn’t it work ?

Re: Controlling Pi over Long Distances

As B.Goode said, your best bet may be to use mobile internet, because I doubt that you could find any radio emitter/transmitter portable enough AND reliable enough for 20km links...

Re: Pi 3B+ / Shorting 3.3V to GND

I was about to say the same. I would have expected that to include short-circuit, over-current and thermal shutdown protections which would contain the failure and avoid the polyfuse 'blowing'. Well, in my case the polyfuse didn’t even blow... I think that it only protects the 5V supply. Talking ab...

It did get very hot before it stopped working.
Was it doing heavy processing at the time ? Was the Pi correctly ventilated ? Was it overclocked ?

It sounds like it overloaded at some point...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 b+ won't boot with multiple SD cards

When the OS started crashing, did anything unusual happen ? Power surge ? Mistake when fiddling with GPIO ?...

If your power supply and USB cable are separate, maybe someone swapped one of the two without notifying you ? Or disconnected it while running ? "But, I needed to charge my phone !.." :D

Re: Pi 3B+ / Shorting 3.3V to GND

Ok, thanks for the warning. Have the new figures been published somewhere yet ? I can't find any info on the maximum current allowed out of the 3B+. However I did find this article measuring current consumption : https://raspi.tv/2018/how-much-power-do ... asurements

Re: Raspberry pi does not get normal internet speeds

The Ethernet adapter of the Pi being connected through the USB bus, thus sharing bandwith with the USB devices, did you try it without any USB plugged in ? (SSH, serial console...)

Re: Pi 3B+ / Shorting 3.3V to GND

Well, there's that. Lesson learned, I guess ! I'll check again in the morning, but as klricks wrote, it doesn't look like the polyfuse is blown. So now, until I receive my new one, I have to make up some rules for not making the same mistake again (and if a newbie like me stumbles onto this post, ma...

Pi 3B+ / Shorting 3.3V to GND

Hi everyone ! I am proudly adding an additional "I messed up" post to this forum  I am pretty sure to already know the answer, but I am looking for confirmation. This afternoon while my Pi 3B+ was up, I accidentally shorted Pin 1 (3.3V supply) to GND, which immediately shut down the Pi. Now...
