Re: 433 MHz Power Plug not answering

Have you seen https://tutorials-raspberrypi.com/control-raspberry-pi-wireless-sockets-433mhz-tutorial/ This seems closer to your needs. I did read that one and 20 others on this subject. I feel really frustrated this isnt working. I cant say I have made any real progress on this matter despite tryi...

RPi 3b+ sd-card in a RPi 4

Hello I have 90 RPi3B+ that my students use. What will happen if I take one of the sd-cards from a RPi3B+ and put it in a RPi4. Will everything work or do I have to create a new image for the sd-card? It would be troublesome to have both models being used at the same time if the sd-cards would have ...

Re: Getting IP from headless RPi

Put both networks in wpa_supplicant.conf and the Pi should automatically connect at home and at school. But the problem is that I dont have access to the school network settings and I cant count on getting them. The solution the school-tech-guys provided was putting all 90 pi-mac-adresses into thei...

Re: Getting IP from headless RPi

But the fact that the pies get their ip from the school network from the router having their mac-adresses is something I cant change. I understand that having both the school-network and the students home-network in the wpa_supplicant-file would be ideal, but I cant do that. Is it possible to have t...

Re: Getting IP from headless RPi

Thank you all for your input. I ended up adding my home network info to the wpa_supplicant-file and making a mail-script autorun by adding a line to rc.local. Another issue has turned up. After doing these changes to the wpa_supplicant- and rc.local-file and then commenting them away - the pi does n...

Re: Getting IP from headless RPi

The email/text-message idea sounds great, but doesnt that require the pi to actually be logged on to the home network? I was unclear when I described this situation. This is the scenario: 1. Student brings home laptop and rpi from school 2. Student wants to get the rpi on to the home network without...

Getting IP from headless RPi

Hello I want my students that are about to use their RPIs at home with their laptops to not have to hook the RPi up to a monitor and use mouse/keyboard to get the IP that their home network has decided for their RPi. Browsing to their router is to complicated. Do you have any ideas on how I can set ...

433 MHz Power Plug not answering

Hello I have a 433-power plug and these cheap sender and reciever modules (https://tutorials-raspberrypi.com/let-raspberry-pis-communicate-with-each-other-per-433mhz-wireless-signals/) connected to two different pies. I have not attached an antenna. When I press my power plugs remote I get data to m...

Controll Sonoff from RPi with Python

Hello I just bought a Sonoff S26 (https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-s26-wifi-smart-plug.html). It pairs with my phone and I can turn it on and off with an app. Do you think it is a way to switch it on/off with a python program? In the end I want my students to be able to use this in a RPi-school-project t...

Store python data on internet and present it

Hello friends

Do you know if there is an easy and free way to store and present data online sent from a python program? Maybe like a table and a graph.

Pi to Pi python communication

Hello
What do you think would be the easiest way to have two pies send data between each other with python?
I want each pi to run a python program and be able to communicate.

Scenario 1:
Both pies are on the same wifi.

Scenario 2:
Pies are not on the same wifi.

Thanks!

Simplest possible web control of a RPi3

Hello friends I have been trying out different rpi-projects at home the past 6 months. I have now hooked up a lamp through a relay attached to a breadboard. I can turn the lamp on or off when I am running my python program. I would like to know how to turn it on or off through a web page, not by rem...

Thank you all for your thoughts.

I will make sure my students power down their pies before connecting the pins.
I will not involve anyone else at the school for risk assessment.

Power on or off while playing with GPIO

Hi I feel a bit confused. I have read that it is a bad idea to connect the pins to stuff while the pi is turned on. Is that true? I have not turned my pi off while connecting the pins and I havent noticed anything bad yet, but maybe I have been lucky. Next week I will start a project in the school w...

Re: Huge Pi-project in Swedish high school

It might be worth considering USB drives rather than SD cards, more robust, probably cheaper, possibly faster. Also more desirable to steal if Swedish students are liable to do that! For example £9.95 for a 32GB micro SD https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-microSDHC-Memory-Adapter-Performance/dp/B073J...
