Pi to Windows laptop

Hi all. Sorry if you've heard this before. I'm running in circles! I'm trying to get my files from Windows laptop to Pi4. Trying to use VNC and I've got so many passwords/usernames and heaven knows what else (associated with a number Pi info websites) that I'm digitally constipated. Any ideas how I ...

Re: Pi4 metal case WiFi but no connection (solved)

Sorted ! I hope.

Router reset and the Pi works but the Windows laptop still has the default gateway problem.

Hopefully I'm on my way to ditching Windows - it's been problematical for a while but now to an unacceptable level. Hopefully I can migrate to Pi/Linux soon.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Pi4 metal case WiFi but no connection

I've no idea! Noobs did it all for me - thank you NOOBS (it is NOOBS that kept me hooked into Linux and not migrating to Apple) Anyway - your comment "Would appear to be a gateway problem" rings an alarm bell. I use my Windows laptop as my main at the moment and that drops out from the router with a...

Re: Pi4 metal case WiFi but no connection

Hi DRGEOF I have been trying to find the answer by myself and came across this post after I started my original post. Hence I was trying to find the answer to an apparent unresolved issue with my experience of the problem.. My apologies for upsetting you whilst trying to do the right thing. Regards

Pi4 metal case WiFi but no connection

Hi all

Ooops - looks like I've blundered somewhere.

Fitted metal heatsink case and all works - except - that I've got wifi but no connection to router.
Message returns eth0:link is down

Always looking at worst scenario, is the case blocking the signal?

Any thoughts.
Cheers

Freesat radio

Hi all. I'm looking at using my pi3b+ to receive Freesat via a dish to receive UK radio progs. Looks like I need a PiTV Hat and a powerful bluetooth transmitter as the dish and Pi will be a bit remote from the house. Anyone done this? I'm sure there is! Can you point me in the right direction. Formatting MSD card and memory stick

Hi all.

I've formatted the above storage devices but I cannot get rid of the partitions. These probably have been originally setup via 'mint' when I was trying to get to grips with Linux - to no avail - thanks Pi !

Any ideas?

Re: Multiple Pi's to replace W10

Hi All. Thanks for your replies. Sorry, I didn't make it clear that I want to use a number of Pi's (3B+) exclusively and in no way connected to my W10 laptop and access them all, individually, via one monitor. The sum of the parts fulfilling my laptop roll. I get the impression it's do-able - next q...

Multiple Pi's to replace W10

Hi All Still very dissatisfied with MS W10 (I sometimes wonder who owns my laptop!) I've found Linux, in it's differing forms, very difficult to master but Rpi I can manage. I wonder if it's possible to run multiple Pi's? Each one to cope with a limited number of apps, since a sole Pi seems limited ...

Re: So - where is realvnc ?

Thanks for your replies. Cheers. Well - I found realvnc hidden in preferences. Thanks. Wonder why it wasn't with vncviewer under the 'internet' dropdown? Vncviewer came pre loaded and just came up with a flashing screen that allowed no access. Now I have realvnc working it wants a username and passw...

So - where is realvnc ?

Hi all.

Please -save my sanity!

I've just run sudo apt install realvnc* - so where is it?

Can't see it under 'internet' where vnc viewer is (that doesn't work!)

Where and how do I open it?

Just off to scope out either a Mac or a high cliff!

Is there a complete webcam surveillance package.

Hi All.

Anyone know if there is a Webcam surveillance package that works with pi 3b+ that is complete and needs no tinkering with, as is the usual Linux want.

Looked at Zoneminder but it appears to come with the usual Linux "add this, modify that............

So far - Thank you Raspberry Pi.

Hi All This is my first foray into Rpi. I have a small 7 inch screen that's messing with my old eyes and I should have bought a HDMI 15" monitor instead of this small 7". Screen advice for a newbie.

Hi all.

Purchased a b+ In the hope I can master it so that I can get my godson interested.

I need a 7" (ish) screen but have read that some purchased from auction sites are not that great.

Any inexpensive recommendations?

Cheers.
