Re: Record video stream continuously / autoremoving the oldest ones

Ok, thanks for the idea It's an "easy to create again" program, at each time someone need to do this. I'm a programmer so I can rewrite things of course. The point is : I guess thousands (may be not millions) of people already created it, and now, I'm going to create it again, and this is depressing...

Record video stream continuously / autoremoving the oldest ones

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a solution which would make my Pi to record continuously into some folder, by making 10 minutes video for each file for example. After some day or depending on a free space trigger into the target, oldest files would be deleted, so that new videos can take the place. I ...

Re: Buster bug report thread

Another Pi2, another SD card, read/write access frozen with green led on, while calling Terminal with ctrl+alt+t
There is definitely some stability issue with Pi2, I guess with the Kernel used in this new Raspbian 10

Re: Buster bug report thread

Less than one day after having updated a perfectly stable 24/24 running Pi2 to Raspbian 10, few minutes ago, it instantly crashed after typing "apt update && apt upgrade" (at the moment of pressing enter). Since it was through putty and I had no reaction anymore, I waited a little bit (but nothing c...

Re: Buster bug report thread

Hi, EDIT : it's a DHCPCD5 problem. I had to remove it, and install Wicd instead. WiFi handling problem with new Raspbian 10 Buster new version of the Network Manager : it cannot handle anymore USB WiFi Dongle TP-Link TL-WN722N (V2) (while was working fine with Raspbian 9 Stretch). Despite the fact t...

Re: Disable "Welcome to Raspberry Pi" setup wizard at system start

Hi, I had the same problem, keeping this thing opening again at each start despite it's already configured is really frustrating. Why not just add a checkbox "do not show again" ? Once checked, and clicked on "Cancel", a message saying "you can manually run this tool by typing sudo piwiz in a termin...

Re: 64-bit operating system

Hi, thanks for your answers I'm using C++, and "double" variables. jahboater, what you mean it that it is already using 64 bits wide instructions into the CPU ? I didn't tried it for now, that was just something that suddenly came to me yesterday while doing the summary of what works, and what will ...

Re: 64-bit operating system

Hi everybody, I'm working on a very "simple" thing that didn't get mentioned into the previous posts, and on which I believe running on a 32 bit OS is strongly reducing my performances : 64 bits "double" floating point calculation (into a 3D based point scanning / reconstruction application). I got ...

Re: Vanilla 4.14.67 and Raspberry Pi Kernel 4.14.67

I managed to compare with "Meld" the differences between the standard Kernel and the RPi Kernel, I saw lot of new files and some modified files

Is it possible to create a patch from these differences ?
Is it the good way for placing the RPi Kernel additions into any Kernel ?

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 15.1 (Android 8.1.0) for Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+

Cool, it sounds pretty clear. Thank you for those explanations, as I'm trying to understand a maximum of things about all of this, and because I would have no idea of "how to transform Raspberry Pi Kernel 4.14 into an RPi Android Kernel 4.14 plus all of the things needed to have Android working", th...

Re: [DEV] LineageOS 15.1 (Android 8.1.0) for Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+

Hi, very cool work ! Had you used an original Android Kernel 4.14, or an original Vanilla Kernel 4.14, or current Raspberry Pi modified Kernel 4.14 ? Did you have to write HAL/HIDL layers for having Android to work ? According to all the things written in there : https://source.android.com/devices/a...

Vanilla 4.14.67 and Raspberry Pi Kernel 4.14.67

Hi everybody, For those who don't want to read everything, my questions are at the bottom. Why my questions : I'm in the process of understanding kernel adaptation to different boards or SoC. So my best bet is to play with RPi3 :) And Orange Pi2  but without any decent support, this will only ...

Re: Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]

I can also confirm why rpi-update did something, even before I found over_voltage=2 solution : before rpi-update, with over_voltage=2 : volt=1.3563V after rpi-update, with over_voltage=2 : volt=1.3688V The new firmware give a higher voltage than the older, that's why I saw some stability improvement...

Re: Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]

Confirmed to work ! This CPU needs a higher voltage that the originally defined one to work fine. over_voltage=2 seems to be fine. Is this feedback interesting for RPI engineers ? The problem wasn't occurring when maintained very cold. The problem also reduced when rpi-updated from Apr 16 2018 18:16...

Re: Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]

Thanks for the advices sysbench is working well. I was using iperf -s -D and iperf -c 127.0.0.1 -t 7200000 -P 4, it gives almost the same temperature elevation but not totally as much. So here is the news for this evening : Changing clock speed (1200 -> 1225, 450 -> 460, 400->410) didn't do much, I ...

Hi, it's RPi 3B (the 1200MHz one). Re: Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]

Hi, Thank you for your answers. I never overclocked a RPi so I found some documentation, and I also found the command (vcgencmd otp_dump) telling about warranty bit : it's OK. I'm using unattended upgrades for having everything up to date everytime, without having anymore to log into all of my linux...

Re: Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]

Hi, any advice for the warranty ? I played a little bit with the defective board. It seems that when maintained very (very) cold into the ice cubes compartment of a fridge, with fan (CPU stuck < 25°C even with 4 core working 100%), there is no crash, even after hours of hard work. The RPi was driven...

Re: Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]

I can confirm : everything that use 4 core at the same time make the board freeze and application crashes. Of course it's not supposed to be the case, and with another board but nothing else changing (same SD, keyboard, screen, power supply...) there is no problem anymore. The board is defective sin...

[Solved] Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable : solved by over_voltage

Hi everybody ! Everything is in the title : Pi3 B V1.2 board unstable on BOINC [email protected]. It simply freezes, green led off (no SD activity), no Num lock switching, screen displaying a fixed view with nothing moving anymore. Since it's a 100% CPU process on each core, I already know what is your firs...
