Re: Raspberry Pi 3B aarch64 boot from USB

Thanks, I will try with some other USB drives. EDIT: It works with another USB stick! Do you know what I can try to do to make it works with my configuration? I have a M.2 SSD in an external case plugged through an USB Hub. I tried just with the SSD, it doesn't work, so I suppose the problem is only...

Raspberry Pi 3B aarch64 boot from USB

Hello, I am trying to boot a aarch64 system on my Raspberry Pi 3B from an USB drive. Everything works well when I boot a 32 bits system or the 64 bits one from SD card. The boot.txt file says # Set root partition to the second partition of boot device part uuid ${devtype} ${devnum}:2 uuid setenv boo...

Re: Boot from USB hangs with USB Hub

In my home country I have plenty of stuff like old small SD cards and Hubs, but I am in exchange and I have almost nothing, that's why I just bought this Hub. I have few other USB drives that I can use for bootcode.bin. But if there is no way to prevent the the Pi blocking during boot without SD car...

Boot from USB hangs with USB Hub

Hello, I have a Raspberry Pi 3B that I use only as a server with two disks. Due to some power supply problem, I just bought this USB Hub on amazon in order to power both of them. Because I have an SSD, I boot directly on the SSD without having any SD card, everything works well without the Hub (exce...

Re: Best way to power Raspberry Pi 3B with two disks

Thanks for the reply, The Hub is powered in all my test, I tried lots of configurations, it works flawlessly even under stress tests on the two disks. I don't have any screen or keyboard, just an ssh access. I did some research and couldn't find relevant posts, I thought it was maybe because t...

Re: Best way to power Raspberry Pi 3B with two disks

Hello, it's me again! I just received the Hub and I have another problem, the Pi doesn't boot when the Hub is connected. When I plug first the SSD, then boot, and then plug the Hub with the HDD, it works perfectly. Even if I just try to boot with the SSD and the Hub with nothing plugged on it, it do...

Re: Best way to power Raspberry Pi 3B with two disks

I don't have the official PSU but this one https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B01N8ZIJL8/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . It's 3A, so 15W, still less than the 18W theoretically needed. The second drive is a SSD, so I suppose it doesn't need as much power as an HDD to start spinning. I will ...

Best way to power Raspberry Pi 3B with two disks

Hello, I am the happy owner of Raspberry Pi 3B that I use with two disks, one HDD (Samsung M3 1TB) and one old SSD (M.2 in an external case), plugged using only USB ports of the pi. The pi boots directly on the SSD, no SD card, nothing else, except an Ethernet cable used to remotely access it as a m...
