Re: Kootnet Sensors - Record, View and Visualize Sensor Data

I have updated the information above as Kootnet Sensors has gone through a few versions since I last updated this post. As of this post I have released version Beta.30.190. It comes with the following additions (more or less) since I last updated this post. MQTT Support as a Publisher and or Broker ...

Re: Create your own Raspberry Pi Network Testers

I also want to develop this as far as possible. I got one each of the three Pi4's this week specifically because I've burned/worn out all the nics except one on my laptops with 1g nics. These 1g nic Pi4's seem perfect for deploying to remote parts of a network for testing or monitoring. I use Iperf...

Re: Create your own Raspberry Pi Network Testers

All right, you've peaked my interest. I've been looking for an alternative to buying a rather expensive networks tester that can do all the fancy stuff. You probably know what I'm taking about, but just in case: Cable length NEXT FEXT etc etc etc... Wiremapping is simple stuff. I can do that with a...

Re: Which python program is running/how did I autorun it at boot?

Assuming you have terminal access to said Pi, you can see what python scripts are running by doing this. ps aux | grep -i python As for how it auto-started, there are 3 main ways I know to auto-start apps and scripts in Linux. 1. systemd service - This one takes a bit more to get working, but once s...

Re: Unable to connect to VPN server where there's another VPN client active

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the IP used to connect to OpenVPN has to be the same IP that responds. But since you have NordVPN enabled, you connect to IP A but get a response from IP B. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to resolve that... Most likely it involves creating a separate network fo...

Hi, I hope it's the right forum for my question. I'd very much appreciate your assitance. TL;DR: How to enable Wifi connectivity while IP camera streams video through the Ethernet port of Raspberry Pi4? I'm involved in an image processing project in which video stream captured by camera is locally ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Wifi and Eth0 DHCP

If you are only dealing with the 3 devices on their own isolated network (AKA just connecting to each other), you may just want to set Static IPs for all devices instead. It's a lot easier than trying to set up a DHCP server. Just be sure your programs are pointing to the IPs. Example config Pi Serv...

Re: Win SCP SSH recognises IP but NOT Hostname

What are your DNS settings on the computer you are using to connect to the device by hostname? Generally speaking, local computer names are registered to your router's DNS through TCP/IP. So if you are using googles DNS servers for example, hostname lookup may not work. Also, FYI, you can manually s...

Thnak you for answer, it is impossible to configure port forwarding because the internet provider gacves me a 10.* IP on the WAN of the router, they have private IP address in their network to save public IP addresses, May kindly suggest a solution about my questions, an SSH bridge (or how to setup...

Re: Can't enter console with can't find bash

Simplest way I can think is to pop the SD card into a PC or Mac (with ext4 support) and edit the file. If you do not have ext4 support loaded you could boot of a USB linux and do it that way One other thought (and I've not tried this in these circumstances) is to pop the SD card in to PC or Mac and...

Re: Best way to send signal om 2.4Ghz RF

Neat idea, but because it's using the 2.4Ghz RF, it makes it fairly complicated due to SOO many devices using that spectrum, including most wireless systems. I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like this would be an investment of time for sure, especially if that device you're trying to mimic doesn't h...

Re: How to access SSH when under private IP

Personally, I would just forward the SSH port from the router you are getting private IPs from (The 10.x.x.x range router) to the Raspberry Pi, then you just connect to the PI from anywhere with an internet connection, using the Public IP from your 10.x.x.x router. If you don't have access to the 10...

Re: Proxy and 4G Modem

I'm not sure you can actually forward ports through an Android Tether. But if you can, you would be looking to make that IP 192.168.42.130 the DMZ or find a section to select the specific ports you need to forward. Then you can access your proxy through the Pixels 4G IP. You would also have to make ...

This may be a little biased but I started a project last year called "Kootnet Sensors" to gather sensor data over long periods of time with Raspberry Pi's and it supports a bunch of sensors, including the EnviroPHAT and Enviro+. It's decent on resources once it loads up, as I have it running on a Pi...

Re: Create your own Raspberry Pi Network Testers

Sorry for the late reply, I have not been on the forums for a bit. It sounds like you came to the right project. I made these testers to do exactly that. Plug the 2 testers on either end of the route you want to test and let them run. So long as there are no VLANs between the units, they should work...
