Re: Cross-compilation guide for Qt 5.9.4 and RPi

Thanks for this awesome stuff. I compiled the same way and it really work for executable project, but i am looking to build Static libraries instead of Applications which unfortunately not allowing. It is compiling perfectly but i can't run it on my pi. I know this thread is pretty old now but if an...

Re: Cross Compilation Tool for Python

One can use SSH or Telnet with traditional "print" statement and log file debugging to figure out what's going on or wrongly but being able to put breakpoints and single-step Python code running on the Pi, look at what variables hold etc, back at the desktop, would be nice, would have made life muc...

Re: Cross Compilation Tool for Python

So your question requires further clarification: what do you really want to do? Developing python project on PC and deploying code on RPI? Hardware-specific resources such as GPIOs, interface buses (SPI, I2C etc.) are not available on a PC so you can't develop code on PC that relies on RPI-only har...

folks... I am trying to build a c++ application to control GPIO on RPI. Recently got to know about libgpiod.
Do any one have sample code for toggling a GPIO using libgpiod?

Re: Problem while accessing /dev/mem

In general, you will need to be running as root in order to access /dev/mem. 0 crw-r----- 1 root kmem 1, 1 Jun 16 21:44 /dev/mem (Or be in group kmem; pi is not in that group [by default]) So, you have a few choices: 1) Run the program via "sudo" (this will be the most common advice given on this f...

Problem while accessing /dev/mem

folks... i got a source code for accessing GPIO of rpi through library "mmapGpio". Somewhere in this c++ file, it is trying to open "/dev/mem".
The problem is i can't access it. Please find the snapshot.
I am sure the problem is related to access permission.. What should i do?

Re: Desktop less (Linux based) OS for RPI

Because: You need a Windows 10 machine in order to use Win 10 IoT. You get locked in to MS. Who knows how long MS will support Win 10 IoT on the Pi. It's closed source and inflexible. The Open Source and Free Software alternative will work just as well. Perhaps better. There will be far more suppor...

Just don't use all the other junk than normally comes on top.
But the user will still have permission to close or minimize my app and use it by any other way?

Re: Desktop less (Linux based) OS for RPI

yeah, I am making that app on Qt/c++ only. It gives me an executable. My issue is user have to double click it in order to run that application and can minimize or close that application anytime and use that machine as normal PC which i dont want. Windows10 IOT core provides very excellent method t...

Re: Desktop less (Linux based) OS for RPI

Alternatively, if you write your application in C++ and use the Qt graphics libraries the resulting program can be run directly into the frame buffer. No X required at all! Such a Qt application can also make use of accelerated 3D graphics in that frame buffer. Presumably other languages that have ...

Re: Desktop less (Linux based) OS for RPI

folks... Thanx for the replies.. I wasn't sure whether the RPI community is so much active. "Headless" I believe is the term used for the application running WITHOUT SCREEN. The OS may or may not be capable of running a GUI. My App is not HEADLESS. Its a complete GUI based. All i dont want is a Desk...
