No audio jack sound output in Windows

I use pianobar for pandora and it works great from the login terminal. However, after startx, within windows I get no sound from pianobar or pithos through the audio jack. What needs to be changed within the windows config to get audio jack sound output? Thanks!

Re: Can't boot RPI-2 after upgrade

FIXED! Had done apt-get update/upgrade/dist-upgrade before hand. Also rpi-update. That didn't work. I ended up installing the new raspi-config on my old Pi and went through all settings and reconfirmed. That worked. Must have been something in my config.txt file. It's all good now :)

Can't boot RPI-2 after upgrade

I took an original RPi flash memory card and successfully upgraded it to the latest version using apt-get upduate/upgrade in my original RPi. All that went perfectly, and it boots in my original RPi. However, that flash memory card will not boot in the RPI-2. It gets most of the way through the boot...

Re: Launch Radio listening automatically with Squeezelite

For those running Raspbian, have you found that the latest apt-get update/upgrade breaks squeezelite? All I get is garbled sound output now. Restoring my backup disk image, prior to the update, repairs things. So, be warned... don't do "apt-get update" (and upgrade) unless you have a backup or know ...

Re: Install fresh wheezy or upgrade?

Doing an "rpi-update" seems to give me something even beyond what was mentioned above.

What does an "rpi-update" give me above and beyond what "apt-get dist-upgrade" does? Thanks

Re: Has anyone successfully created a supercomputer Raspberr

You can also "roll your own." Since the RPi C compiler understands all the traditional Berkeley socket layer commands, you could easily write a client and server program, launch the clients via ssh, and communicate data through sockets to accomplish your work in parallel. Not too different than MPI,...

Re: SSH does not work (start automatically)

I can't explain why sshd doesn't start automatically... I have had no issues with this. As for your other question, if you decide to use a "boot_enable_ssh.rc" kind of thing, you can call it (or include its source) in /etc/rc.local . That script gets run last thing at boot time before control is giv...

SOLVED - Re: pianobar suddenly quiet

SOLVED -- Well, I guess the "Unknown PCM cards.pcm.front" error was always there, because that wasn't the problem.

All I had to do was use 'alsamixer' and unmute the darned thing and turn up the volume there.

pianobar suddenly quiet

I have used pianobar for Pandora for quite some time without issues. However, at some point after recent updates, it's fallen silent. I use the analog output jack and get no sound now. Only a "click" when I start a music stream. Things like omxplayer still work perfectly. When I start a Pandora stre...

Re: nfs kernel module

FWIW, I have no trouble running an NFS server on the RPi, using the canned kernel module. No compilation necessary... it's in the nfs-kernel-server package. Just make sure you have this installed, and nfs-common. set your /etc/exports file, and you're good to go. Just start nfs-kernel-server. It all...

Newbie question here, based on the response above. What is the purpose of rpi-update, and does this utility yield a different result than apt-get update/upgrade? Thanks. Neall

Re: LXDE Logout dialog without reboot and shutdown???

Just an interesting tidbit here... if you "sudo su" then "startx" you'll get a standard desktop. However, it won't have your custom settings from your Desktop directory. If you shutdown from there you WILL get the additional reboot and halt commands in the standard LXDE logout dialogue. So they are ...

Re: Copying files in X from CIFS shares locks up RPi

I know this doesn't help to answer your question, but hopefully it's still useful information. I do NOT see the behavior you describe. I copied dozens of files from my remote CIFS share via the file manager to my desktop (and back), with no problems at all. Whatever's going on with you is not a dist...
