Thanks for report, I have issued a fix picrate-1.2.1, I had updated vendor Rakefile but not adjusted `runner.rb` to match for --install samples.

Performance with Oracle JDK8 on stretch isn't too bad (apart from the usual jvm warmup), but there's a big change with the current OpenJDK11 (possibly because there is only a server mode, and change in default garbage collector). Performance isn't everything.

Processing Sketches in Ruby

Write and run ruby-processing sketches in the GeanyIDE. PiCrate is a stand alone implementation of processing in ruby (depends on JRuby).
Install JRuby, the PiCrate gem and configure the GeanyIde using a simple command https://github.com/monkstone/install-picrate See running sketch:-
