Re: Configuring RealVNC server

the following did the trick for me:

Code: Select all

ssh rpi
vncserver-virtual -Encryption PreferOn -Authentication VncAuth
# wait for the display number (last line of the output) to appear
# from my main computer: vncviewer rpi:displaynumber (e. g. raspberrypi:1)

Re: too low current through dc motor

I know it is not exactly the answer to your question, but I guess better solution for whatever your needs. ¿why not using a simple motor driver like a DRV8838 or L293D? They are cheap, easy to control using PWM, and you will be able to independently power the motor without compromising Pi load. act...

Re: too low current through dc motor

transistor is 2N3904, both hfe and to-transistor current were multimeter readouts. Hmm According to the data sheet from Central Simiconductor, 3904-hfe.png the hfe is 400 max (for the 3903 it's 200 max) but that's for Vce=10v and Ic=1mA Out of all the figures on that datasheet, the nearest to your ...

Re: too low current through dc motor

You say the base current is 9-10mA - how are you measuring this? Also, what transistor are you using? In a data sheet, hfe is generally quoted for operating in its linear region - with a significant collector-emitter voltage. It's likely to be significantly lower when it's close to saturation, whic...

Re: too low current through dc motor

the actual problem (which i should've put it into subject) is that the motor does not spin :-(. when i replace it with a lot smaller motor (can't find its specs), it works as expected.

too low current through dc motor

can someone please give me a hint why i keep seeing only 60 mA going via DC motor (http://rlx.sk/en/gear-motor/3033-5v-min ... -3-6v.html)? transistor's hfe is 200 and current to base is 9-10 mA so i'd expect dc motor to spin w/o a problem. thank you, j

lr-picodrive does not run at all (solved)

hello,

any idea why lr-picodrive just silently dies (i am using emulationstation) without writing anything into /tmp/runcommand.log? dgen (and only it) works fine.

cheers, jose

Re: mbr destroyed by accident - how to restore

np, it could very well serve me in future. btw to bring boot menu (no icons) back i only had to recreate installed_os.json file containing the following: [ { "description" : "OpenELEC is a fast and userfriendly Kodi Entertainment Center distribution.", "folder" : "/settings/os/OpenELEC_Pi2", "icon" ...

Re: mbr destroyed by accident - how to restore

i finally managed to get it working studying noobs source code, comparing fdisk output with another openelec+raspbian system (installed via noobs), testdisk and trial&error. noobs uses sfdisk in installation/restore phase so i used it as well. took me a couple hours to figure out the correct (or wor...

mbr destroyed by accident - how to restore

hello, silly myself put newer noobs over the old one - apparently something had gone wrong and i was then unable not run openelec/raspbian installed beforehand. tried to recover using testdisk but to no avail. maybe because mbr on pi is a bit non-standard? of course i do not have a backup of mbr, lo...

Re: XBMC video autoplay on startup (Raspbmc)

hi,

i suggest you write a udev rule which will run the script for you. please check out this wiki page (written for arch linux, but should work on any udev-aware linux distro): https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Udev

Re: XBMC video autoplay on startup (Raspbmc)

tbh i dumped xbmc almost completely in favour of midnigt commander+omxplayer+subtitle downloader so no guarantee. looking at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Li ... _functions, shouldn't be your command be more like

Code: Select all

 --action="PlayerControl(RepeatAll)"

occasional problems with xbmc

hello, does anyone else experienced (fortunately rare) problems with xbmc/omxplayer, when * xbmc chokes on invalid codec frame and then refuses to restart - basically it just sits there and probably waits for some lock to release (console access works fine) or * video playback stutters heavily makin...
