Never checked on a Pi but on most microcontrollers the SPI peripheral draws 1mA or less. That depends on whether or not the attached display is being *powered* by the Pi. In my Pi0/Pi0W tests with a 3.5" display connected to the GPIO block, the overall power consumption goes up by about 100mA....

Just a very general question; I'm using a Pi Zero in a portable project and wondered if there were any power savings to be made by using an SPI display over a HDMI one or vice versa.

Assume the same resolution, screen-type and workload in both cases.
