Re: Raspbian Lite questions
The obvious answer to this question is: OF COURSE, it is possible to run X applications (i.e., X clients) on a CLI-only machine without installing an X server. I do it all the time. Have people forgotten how the X computing model is defined? Could you expand on this? The kind of X apps I'd be runni...

Re: SPI vs HDMI power consumption
Never checked on a Pi but on most microcontrollers the SPI peripheral draws 1mA or less. That depends on whether or not the attached display is being *powered* by the Pi. In my Pi0/Pi0W tests with a 3.5" display connected to the GPIO block, the overall power consumption goes up by about 100mA....

Re: Raspbian Lite questions
Nope, this is just a kludge because fat images are so popular with Raspberry Pi users. ghans I see, I think a compromise between the two would be to install Raspbian Lite and then add RPD as per GhostRaiders guide This way any apps I use would have the necessary dependencies already rather than hav...

Re: Raspbian Lite questions
Thanks, I think this was the answer I was looking for. I'll give it a shot.
Is it standard practice to install a full desktop and then disable it as opposed to installing only the components needed to run X11 apps?
Thanks,

Raspbian Lite questions
Hi folks,
Questions re: Raspbian Lite; is it possible to launch Apps with GUIs from the command line with the default build or would the user need to install a full desktop environment to enable this i.e. RPD, LXDE etc.
Thanks in advance,

Re: SPI vs HDMI power consumption
Hi, thanks for your response.
I don't need to know the specific draw of specific models of display, so assume an identical display in both cases. My question is only very generally whether there is a power saving to be made using either protocol.
Thanks,

SPI vs HDMI power consumption
Hi folks,
Just a very general question; I'm using a Pi Zero in a portable project and wondered if there were any power savings to be made by using an SPI display over a HDMI one or vice versa.
Assume the same resolution, screen-type and workload in both cases.
Thanks in advance,
