Re: Old Raspbian in Pi 4 upgrade kit - sound not working via HDMI

Hi James My apologies - it is a Buster release, based on the temple backdrop and the Pi 4 booting. And weirdly, the sound is now working via HDMI today, whilst it didn't after multiple boots yesterday - to the same monitor. (The display is now a much higher resolution than yesterday) I don't remembe...

Re: Old Raspbian in Pi 4 upgrade kit - sound not working via HDMI

It may be common, but in the case of a new device, I feel it's setting kids up for a bad experience. I can well imagine someone without a PC bought an SD card with a new Pi expecting it to just work, and would then be stumped. If they were known to be out of date, then I think there should have been...

Old Raspbian in Pi 4 upgrade kit - sound not working via HDMI

I just wanted to post somewhere that the Pi 4 upgrade bundle that I bought from the Raspberry Pi store yesterday had an SD card with an old version of Raspbian on it, based on the fact that Sonic Pi was version 2.10 - as learned in this thread. https://twitter.com/samaaron/status/1143387159442972672...

Raspberry Pi TV Hat playing on Apple TV??

I'm really keen to try out the Raspberry Pi TV Hat, for playing and recording Freeview. The catch is that I want to play back on an Apple TV 4K, using the Apple TV's remote control. Has anyone here managed to play recordings made on the Raspberry Pi TV Hat back via an Apple TV of any sort, please? (...

Re: How to detect what HAT is connected

Thank you. I took the HAT in the name literally - sorry for the big red herring!

Re: How to detect what HAT is connected

Hooray - The Sense HAT works fine, so it may well be a problem with the RasPiO Pro HAT.

Thank you very much for the suggestions!

Re: How to detect what HAT is connected

It's Alex Eames' RasPiO Pro Hat.

Good point, I'll try some others that previously I know did put data in /proc/device-tree/hat - see the sub-directories in

Re: How to detect what HAT is connected

@mahjongg thank you. I read the post https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=206944 and it confirms that someone else is reading /proc/device-tree/hat/ Somehow I have a HAT which is connected and working, but not showing up in /proc/device-tree/hat/ I understand that hats have EEPROMS, bu...

How to detect what HAT is connected

How can I detect what HAT is connected, if any? Background I like to be able to detect what HAT is connected, to make a script that runs at start-up launch an appropriate demo script, to show off the hardware... Some time ago I asked online, and found that the contents of /proc/device-tree/hat/ gave...
