Python may not be the best for near the real time hardware programming, e.g. drone balancing. At the minimum it will significantly reduce your time in the air.

I understand this is about learning but there is always the opportunity cost of time and effort invested. Two questions immediately popped in my head: 1. Why make email encryption engine on Raspberry Pi or any other SBC? What is the use case? Will potential user need to carry it with him anywhere it...

Check if the receiver - transmitter system has some integrity check system. CRC32 or even simple checksums. If they don't it's not too difficult to add one on the application level and just filter the junk out.

We had similar problems with our vehicle detection sensor based on HMC5883L. As it turns out, the sensor is moisture sensitive, especially if SMT is done few few weeks after opening up the reel.
