segmentation fault when upgrading kernel/firmware

I am running my pi2 pi@raspberrypi:~ $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 4.4.34-v7+ #930 SMP Wed Nov 23 15:20:41 GMT 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux for a long time as teamspeak3 server with exagear and minimal webserver, I (dist-)upgrade very rarely. I am not sure what happens, but 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' stops...

Re: Building Kodi on Pi 2

I guess this is not the correct way since the issues were fixed. Above code works without problems and is nearly just copy&paste from official readme.

Re: Building Kodi on Pi 2

This seems to be fixed, https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec/issues/84 10minutes ago it built succesfully ;) Good to know. Could you install it using sudo make install ? Didn't work for me. I had to use sudo -E bash -c 'make install' (following some guide I found on the net). BTW, the libcec3 pack...

Re: Building Kodi on Pi 2

Hi all! At first thanks for this amazing How-To 2 weeks ago I found this and was able to build directly from source without errors. However since last week I'm not able to get past the ./configure step. Always getting the error: ... checking for CRYPTO_set_locking_callback(0) in libcurl-gnutls.so.4...

Re: HOWTO: Install Kodi on Raspbian

Just FYI Michaels' version was added to raspbian repo, see http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid ... pid1969525
Regarding the fix for 'exit bug' I think it didn't make it into helix/14.x branch, only master isengard/15, https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/6577

Re: How to set default GCC compiling flags.

Is bcm2836 armv7ve?
It is correct. march=armv7ve works with mcpu=cortex-a7, march=armv7-a + mcpu=cortex-a7 throws warnings.

Re: Building Kodi on Pi 2

I'll have a look at PVR-addons and making a script. I am not sure about how much ram is really needed. I can copy that txt file to a direct http mirror, just finishing some things. The configure and xflag stuff should get bit shorter soon, also according to http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=21...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) Raspberry Pi 2 image

I am messing around with kodi build aswell, but on raspbian +pi 2, here some more infos: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8nSlx6Q6IoQb2gzLTJQRXlCdzA/view?usp=sharing Most of it should be easy to change for ubuntu, some newer libs etc, also make sure you use gcc/g++ 4.9 and something like CFLAGS="-O...

Re: Building Kodi on Pi 2

Thanks for the build process. All went well aside from one missing package. libgles2-mesa-dev I build from a fresh image of the Feb 16 Raspbian. I started make -j2 when I went to bed and it was done when I got up. Added missing lib, thanks It seems exit bug is fixed, https://github.com/popcornmix/x...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) Raspberry Pi 2 image

I am having difficulty installing additional features because I run out of space. I have an 8 GB SD card, but I very quickly reach the 1.75 GB hard coded limit. I tried changing that in the .sh file, but I could not figure out how to create the image from that. Is there a way to change this limit w...

wow, that thing is fast, thanks :) I really need to move away from raspbian on pi 2 ... first quick test shows some little minor problems when trying to use raspi-config. expand root-fs does not work here '/dev/root does not exist or is not a symlink' - so using fdisk manually. change localisation, ...

Re: Building Kodi on Pi 2

I was aware of that, but that is not building ;-) Theoretically we gain performance because we use all new cpu stuff on pi 2 like '-mcpu=cortex-a7 -mfpu=neon-vfpv4' during compile. This is missing in this deb because it was made for pi 1 (but it also runs on pi 2 without these optimizations). Also I...

Building Kodi on Pi 2

Hello, since my Pi 2 arrived I started playing around with it and since I couldn't find any up2date guides for compiling kodi natively, I wrote one. This is actual not very stable, if you want to use your pi 2 mainly with kodi, use Openelec/Raspbmc/Osmc/xbian (all are highly optimized and have lots ...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

You may want to take a look at https://github.com/Koenkk/xbian/blob/master/Docs/CompileXBMC.sh . But be careful in the section with creating a bigger swap, xbian uses a swap partition, while Raspbian by default uses a swap-file. It could screw up your sdcard ;) So instead increase swap in /etc/dphys...

Nice you found a fix, will use as soon as the compiling is finished again :) About compiling, in case someone wants to try: starting with http://pastebin.com/jLzEZiXg did work. Re: XBMC for Raspbian wheezy including airplay,nfs,dvdcss...

Maybe a new build from the github main branch will fix this.
Most previous versions where compiled from https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc-rbp . But it seems the main repo https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc with newly added pi support and many pi fixes gives people (me included) hard times compiling....

Re: XBMC for Raspbian wheezy including airplay,nfs,dvdcss...

Why did you disabled OpenMax? As I know, it's used for hardware accelerated video decoding on Pi, so, without this, xbmc is useless - no gpu acceleration for play movies = no video playback. Also, pvr would also be nice. It is hw accelerated. Guessing OpenMax is listed as disabled because gui is do...

Re: XBMC for Raspbian wheezy including airplay,nfs,dvdcss...

One problem I'm having is that I can use my bluetooth-connected keyboard for cursor/return/esc. But as soon as I get to a keyboard input dialog, typing doesn't input characters. But return/esc/cursors work. This once worked but stopped. Not sure what stopped it, but it was the inadvertent enabling ...
