Re: Standalone nework with Wifi and swich

Not at the moment no. It is simply to provide network for smart home devices.
Sure I might do virtual LAN through router at some point, but until then this solution where I have all components and do not have to invest, is fine.

Re: Standalone nework with Wifi and swich

/etc/dhcpcd.conf, /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf, /etc/dnsmasq.conf and /etc/network/interfaces are identical to the ones in the link as I copy pasted specifically to avoid any mishaps. Here included from the latest attempt ( https://www.thegeekpub.com/240065/setup-a-raspberry-pi-wireless-access-point/ )...

Standalone nework with Wifi and swich

Hi there I have been following a couple of guides, and done a lot of reading on the forum, but cannot quite find the solution to my problem. My goal is to make a separate network for my smart home devices. Some of them requires a ethernet connection, while others use Wi-Fi. So, I have a Raspberry Pi...

Re: Old-school GUI - Possible? (Beware, silly purpose)

This is a perfect job for Java. Graphics are easy and so is the logic. This is down and dirty with no attempt to streamline. import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.util.*; import javax.swing.*; public class McCarty extends JFrame { public McCarty() { setLayout(new GridBagLayout());...

Re: Old-school GUI - Possible? (Beware, silly purpose)

Just remembered a trick I used with Ncurses based Dialog menus. If you tell the terminal it only has x, y rows, columns, then the fonts are displayed bigger. Been years but I think I used something like a 20 x 15 terminal setting. You could do it all with shell script and dialog. Shell script can b...

Sorry I can't help you with your project. I just want to say it sounds like fun. I watched Wrongfully Accused the other day. It was very silly :-)

Good luck!

Old-school GUI - Possible? (Beware, silly purpose)

Hi there TL: DR: Is it possible to make interface like the pictures, use tab, enter and F-keys to select, play audio, and have it start at boot? So, for a gift I am recreating a moment from Wrongfully Accused . This involves a the interaction with a hospital computer. Unfortunately, I have no experi...

Display for Pi 4

Hi there

Anyone know a small budget display (2.8 to 4 inches) that will work with the new raspberry?
I find the official display too big, or at least for my little project.

Cheerio!

Re: USB webcam live streaming using FFmpeg

If you're satisfied with the quality of the stream and it's not too much data for your network connection, then that sounds good to me. The final bitrate is over 3Mbps (good), the fps is 30 (great) and the speed is stable at 1.0 (excellent; less than 1 means it's falling behind and the stream will ...

Re: USB webcam live streaming using FFmpeg

You're welcome; I enjoy helping out. I did some web searches to find others who have tried streaming to YouTube with a C920 webcam, and one preson got it working using the following line, which also has the "dummy" or blank audio stream: ffmpeg \ -ar 44100 -acodec pcm_s16le \ -f s16le -ac 2 -channe...

Re: USB webcam live streaming using FFmpeg

OBS is very fine yes, but sadly not able to run on a Raspberry. That would have been a good solution. Regarding bitrate you are absolutely right. I have tried fooling around with your examples, but I seem to get stuck quite early... I am not familiar with the "hierarchy" of the commands. So where is...

Hi there Let me start by saying I am a complete novice. That I managed to stumble as far as I have is nothing short of miraculous. Anyways, I have the simple dream of being able to live stream to YouTube using my Logitech C920 connected to a Raspberry Pi 3b+. I actually managed to get some of the wa...
