I recently bought an ESP8266 SDIO wifi adapter to use with the Pi. I've been following the instructions at https://hackaday.io/project/8678/instructions but I've been unable to get the two devices to communicate. I'm using a RPi Model B (Not +), with the 26 pin GPIO header. The only line in my confi...
Sorry for reviving an old post, but it appears I'm not the first one. Whatever happened to this image? I'm trying to make some older code run on the RPI but having troubles with older kernels/distros. Would love to try this 9.04 image if you still have it. Thanks! Matt I haven't logged in for about ...
Hello all, I've recently got back into using the Pi after a year or so, and have decided to add a small touch screen. I've found a screen on ebay I'd like to buy. It has the connections I need for displaying the image, detecting touch and also an SD Card reader. Only problem being, all three of thes...
If cmdline.txt in /boot is edited to say root=/dev/sda (or whichever your drive is labeled as) The usb drive will automatically be mounted at / then the boot will start. It shouldnt be mounted anywhere else. (I could be wrong but I have booted off a USB before) I hope this answers your question.
I plan to upload just a tarball that can just be untared onto the usb (or in this case you could overwrite the ext4 partition of the SD) that will allow you to use the whole drive without expanding it. Its being uploaded now. Also any news from the people who have downloaded it? It it all working?
elatllat wrote:Just like ubuntu the chip on the rpi is to old to be supported by these OSs, and is probably to under powered to be worth porting anyway.
Raspbian "wheezy" is so like Lubuntu why the need ? Also does it support 512MB Pi's ? Well, it's just something different! no need to complain! And anyways, some software is only avaliable for ubuntu!!! If I install this software what repository do I have to point to which has ARMv6 compiled softwa...
Just thought I'd mention Thanks to my Friend James (different james from jamesh) for letting me borrow his Pi while I tested the Image. Even though I didn't get a working build while I borrowed it. He also was the one who checked that it booted on the Pi after I had it working in QEMU. Thanks James ...
I agree - as a learning exercise - great! Well done. I just felt it important people know about the security implications so we dont have people going "yay ubuntu for me to run important stuff on, exposed to the web". I agree it was something i mean to put in the post. However it might be useful fo...
Commendable effort, but to what end? Support for this OS version ended in 2010, whereas Raspbian with LXDE, as pointed out above is very close (functionality wise, and DNA wise) to Ubuntu (both have their roots in Debian), and Raspbian is very well supported. A supported version of Ubuntu would be ...
The Foundation had originally intended to use Ubuntu and, IIRC, had some portion of Ubuntu 9.0.4 running on some pre-production boards, but never made it available. Ubuntu 9.0.4 is the last distribution to support ARM v6 microprocessors as used on the Pi and the Foundation moved to Debian when the ...
Hi I have made a copy of ubuntu 9.04 (XFCE4 desktop) and thought some people might be able to beta test it. I dont acctually own a pi but it works with the arm1176 cpu in qemu and i gave a copy to a friend that said it booted on their Pi. The image is for a USB. This means it does not contain the ke...
I am currently working on getting ubuntu 9.10 working on the pi. I have a filesystem on a usb and have changed cmdline.txt to use that as root. When i start up the Pi, usb is initialized but then i get an error saying: mountall: unable to mount /dev/shm Mount: the directory /dev/shm does not exist. ...
Wheezy Beta is found here http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1435 I don't know about the others though. The Beta wasn't a full "official" release, but it was a lot better than Squeeze. Thanks I had seen this but wondered if there was there was an official one. I did see it on the downloads page an...
Can anyone direct me to a link where I could download Debian Wheezy (not Raspbian)? It seems to have been replaced from the downloads page. I have only found the Beta. Thanks GuyF
