If you are using telnet to connect to a server which reboots, then neither screen nor tmux will be relevant. They would only be useful if the server stay running but either the client or the connection between the client and the server go down. You might try a while loop in a shell: xterm -hold -uc...

Try running your telnet session with screen. https://www.gnu.org/software/screen/manual/screen.html I never used Screen, what is it? I think something goes wrong during the upgrade to Stretch.... now I will try with a fresh install

ok, now I try the upgrade.

another strange thing happens when I try to move from a network to another... the wlan1 will disappear (or appears STOPPED) until the reboot

Hi, I'm using usb wifi dongle. After a reboot this usb changed is name from wlan1 to wlan0. I need the name will always remain wlan1 for the usb dongle, because in cron I set to turn off wlan0 (integrated pi wifi antenna) at reboot. is there a way to enable predictable names?
