Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

If anyone has a board that fails "sudo MEMTESTER_TEST_MASK=0x1000 memtester 128M" in a few minutes with the default settings (no sdram_freq, arm_freq, over_voltage* etc.) who hasn't already PMd or emailed me ([email protected].org), especially if you are in the UK, then please get in touch. I tried ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

Still no crashes for me while running memtester. I'm going to stop running these tests as I think I'm reaching undervolting where I assume I will see instability for other reasons. Please let me know if it would be useful in continuing to decrease these values and running memtester or doing any othe...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I've continued to test, slowly decreasing these two values one at a time. I've not had any crashes while running memtester yet. Latest: 24h at over_voltage_sdram_p=2 over_voltage_sdram_i=3 18.5h at over_voltage_sdram_p=2 over_voltage_sdram_i=2 6.5h at over_voltage_sdram_p=1 over_voltage_sdram_i=2

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I've continued running memtester.

So far no issues!

I ran for ~14h with:

Code: Select all

over_voltage_sdram_p=3
over_voltage_sdram_i=4
And ~6h with:

Code: Select all

over_voltage_sdram_p=3
over_voltage_sdram_i=3
I just started with this:

Code: Select all

over_voltage_sdram_p=2
over_voltage_sdram_i=3

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

Great news that you have a Pi with the symptoms! Thanks for your efforts & for letting us know! I've been running memtester 512M for about 24 hours and it's been stable. Settings: over_voltage_sdram_p=4 over_voltage_sdram_i=4 It sounds like 24 hours is much more than necessary, but anyway! I'm going...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I just started running memtester after rebooting with the new settings.

My Pi was still stable at over 3 days of uptime. Here's what vcgencmd said before I rebooted:

Code: Select all

# vcgencmd get_config int | grep -E "(volt|sdram)"
over_voltage_avs=0x10c8e
over_voltage_avs_boost=0x2ab98
sdram_freq=450

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

My Pi has been stable for over 2 days with sdram_freq=450 set and arm_freq left at the default:

Code: Select all

$ uname -a
Linux rpi5 4.14.31-v7+ #1104 SMP Thu Mar 29 16:52:18 BST 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux
$ uptime

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I found these in the logs from yesterday: Apr 5 14:20:00 rpi5 kernel: [91109.253269] ------------[ cut here ]------------ Apr 5 14:20:00 rpi5 kernel: [91109.253304] WARNING: CPU: 2 PID: 44 at mm/workingset.c:466 shadow_lru_isolate+0x284/0x334 Apr 5 14:20:00 rpi5...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I had switched to only arm_freq=1200 in config.txt (commented out sdram_freq=450). My Pi was mostly ok for about 2 days (I did have a process crash which was suspicious), but it just crashed again: Message from [email protected] at Apr 6 17:28:01 ... kernel:[188790.655382] Internal error: Oops: 817 [#1] ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

An update: After adding "arm_freq=1200 and "sdram_freq=450" to config.txt, my Pi has been completely stable: 07:55:12 up 3 days, 21:37, 11 users, load average: 0.12, 0.19, 0.13 So that's great! By the way: I'd be happy to make further changes or run a custom kernel or something to help debug the ori...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I found a couple possibly related GitHub issues: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/2481 and https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/2449

In case it's relevant, I'm running over wifi - no ethernet cable involved.

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I updated to that new firmware yesterday as well. On the plus side the Pi has not completely crashed. But I was running several applications inside a tmux session and I checked this morning and tmux was dead, including all the applications. There is this message in the logs which is the only hint I ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

I am having similar issues. Mine is crashing daily. I've tried two power supplies: A 2.5A CanaKit and the official Raspberry Pi one. Both crash in similar fashions. I am not powering anything else from the Pi (but it is connected to a powered USB hub with a USB hard drive). After a few hours it lock...
