No, its definitely version 1.1, and the backlight used to turn off just fine. I received my replacement screen. It works just as it should. I can turn the backlight off manually by writing "1" to bl_power, and I can turn it back on with a "0". It also turns off automatically just as my old screen us...

Thanks again DougieLawson, but no go. I previously tried the updates with no luck, and now have tried a fresh install of Raspbian Stretch with no change in behavior.

I'm now thinking something has happened to my screen. I may order a 2nd one to test with, I'm sure I can find a use for it somewhere...

Thank you for the reply DougieLawson, I do have a v1.1 screen, and I've tried writing both 1 and 0 to bl_power. There is no affect at all in either case. This used to work, until I installed xscreensaver. It seems like that package made some change that doesn't get reverted with an apt-get remove. e...
