Re: Remote Network connection via Cell 3g 4g etc

Thanks for that. Do you know anything about the shields I am seeing everywhere? They seem expensive compared to just getting a USB dongle.

Raspbian Pixels: Power symbol

I am using a Raspberry Pi 3 that I just got and I have tried several power supplies including an official Rpi 5v 2.1 amp wall plug and all of them throw this low power symbol each time something is opened or processing is done on the system. I read in several places that 1 amp should be sufficient. ...

Remote Network connection via Cell 3g 4g etc

Is there a resource list of cell connections that work with Raspberry Pi?

I thought on Elinux site they had a list of USB dongles that worked but I was unable to find that list. Are shields better?

Need some help to recover image :(

I have a wheezy or other debian image on a pi that somehow has broken I think due to power problems. I would love more than anything right now to recover it but I am not sure where to start... The first error message I see starts with the following, and ends with a "more>": Unable to handle kernl NU...

I actually went ahead and translated it just now. I however did not use git like I am supposed to  lol

I will try and login to git and make regular comments tonight.

Re: Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located

@RaTTuS

Now that I have tried using reverse SSH I remember that most of the ports are blocked and I didn't find a good solution to get around that.

Re: Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located

depends on how much control you have of the router where the remote RPi's are if you cannot forward the ssh port they you cannot login from the external side [well it become more difficult] if your master location is easily controlled then you can have those remote RPi's log into that machine and d...

Re: Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located

So far I have a proof of concept that works nicely #!/bin/bash wget --mirror --continue --no-host-directories http://somedomain.com/dir1/dir2/webscript.bash; if [ -f /home/mr/dir1/dir2/webscript.bash ]; then chmod 777 /home/mr/dir1/dir2/webscript.bash; bash /home/mr/dir1/dir2/webscript.bash; fi rm /...

Re: Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located

To update in the manner your describing would I need to download the file then have a script run to chmod it? This was actually one of the first things I tried, admittedly I have learned a lot since then but still am not clear on how I would accomplish this.

Re: Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located

If I should start a new topic I will. I installed Debian on an older computer with OpenVPN and configured it to work with no-ip. Next I installed OpenVPN on the Pi and tried to connect it looked like it almost worked when I got the following errors. Tue Jul 22 13:22:10 2014 [changeme] Peer Connectio...

Re: Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located

I had trouble with connecting back to the server on dynamic IP. I partially got this figured out using no-ip but still had connection issues (I assume) because I was running at 1mbps down and .5mbps up.... However I recently upgraded and now am thinking it might be worth trying again.

I tried doing that with reverse SSH but I was never able to get it to work very well. Are you talking about having them login another way?

Updating custom scripts and programs - remotely located Pis

I have made a few things out of my raspberry pis but for all of them I have an updating problem. I have been trying to login remotely but have not found reliable ways of doing this when on dynamic IP connections where I am not located. I have tried to use DNS services, and reverse SSH but neither of...

To add to the information about this post. The disk is not mounting at all until I start the graphical interface (startx).

I don't know, but I am hoping that is a clue to what I am doing wrong here.

BTsync External hard drive sleeps too soon

I have just setup BTsync and after about 20-30 min of run time syncing files to an external hard drive connected to the Pi the hard drive seemed to go into sleep mode. To wake the drive up again I had to go and click on it in the file manager. I have a model B. 1 TB seagate external powered usb driv...

Location based network issue but only on pi

I have a RPi setup at my house when connecting via ssh only at my house I either cannot make the connection or am booted from the connection shortly after it is established. This same RPi unit was tested at my work and had no issues. My home network is a little odd but it has not presented problems ...
